How to Start

Overview

I have flown drones. So, I thought, great, PPV, at least I can see what that is like. But, this is drone racing. OK>? I found it was impossible to understand the race courses. Since there is no documentation, this is about how to actually fly a race course.

What to do, first thing.

The bootstrap tips to understand the race courses.

– there is no training, so first go into the settings, and turn on course tracking.
– this will let you see the starting gate.
– pass through the start, but not the red side. It is a white checkerboard start.
– then you see the next gate is green, or do you?
– it might require a 180 degree turn, vertically or horizontally to the the next gate. Ah green.
– there are some gates that have to be passed in a horizontal corkscrew through a set of three
– there are flags that need to be passed wide of or inside of, like down hill ski racing, green lighted

After you get the idea of 180 degree turns and corkscrews

There are training features but they are hidden.

– the UI is basic and not intuitive
– the course track you leave is also displayed but is not useable
– the course track is what you actually flew, and is always behind you.
– after you finish the course, you land and watch a light follow your track
– but, the angle you are forced to view doesn’t show anything, need a top down view

There is something better

– go to multi-player
– what? the single player training course is here? that is weird.
– ah ha, there is a course line laid on the ground. brilliant!
– but, if you don’t understand the corkscrew and the 180, the ground lines make no sense.

That’s it, have fun!
