Subnautica Guide

How to subnautica for Subnautica

How to subnautica

Overview

A basic list guide to prevent a fear of the ocean while playing subnautica. This guide will begin carry you though the game, and will definitely get you started. Your not going to find too much here just yet, but i will be expanding this guide in the future. Ill update this guide every now and then untill the guide reaches the end of the game. The first half of this guide contains very minor spoilers, if any. I have made a warning in the guide where the “spoiler safe” zone ends. Comments may contain spoilers as well.Feel free to discuss anything in the comments if you would like.Thank you all for your support, i will continue to update this guide as well as make other guides similar to this one 🙂

Basics

-Your always going to want to save your resources, even if you dont think you need them.

-Anything you drop never despawns, or at least takes a long time to despawn. So you can dump some items in a hole near your base untill you get more storage

-Fear the dark. Dark is bad. Dark has scary fish

-De-constructing things gives you back all the resources, so you never really permanently spend resources on construction unless your building a vehicle

-Dont drown, oxygen is always your friend. Upgrade your tank as soon as you can

-Keep extra batteries on you if you have some spare inventory space, especially once you get a seaglide

-Never throw out batteries or power cells, you can re charge them eventually, and they can be a pain to make.

-If you hear a loud noise, get out of wherever you are as fast as you can and dont turn back untill you know its safe.

-Always keep your sound on. Beautiful soundtrack, but for other reasons as well…

-dont be scared to be scared of the dark. Fear will keep you from getting PTSD

Exploration

-Keep some extra food and water on you if your playing on normal survival.

-Your seaglide can and will save your life, cherish it, its your best friend.

-Get a seamoth as early as you can. There cheap, fast, and they offer some extra storage

-Dont get lost. Getting lost is probably the worst thing that can happen. Beacons can help you not get lost.

-The deeper you go, the more interesting things you will find, as well as more dangerous areas and creatures

-Watch your back, not all creatures make noise every second there alive

-Be careful of the void. The void is the edge of the map. You do not want to go there, ever.

-Your going to need better vehicles and better upgrades to go deeper, so keep any upgrades you find.

-Always be aware of your oxygen while exploring. the deeper you go, the faster it will run out. A special helmet can reduce this effect.

-Loot any wrecks that you come across. But be careful, as you can get lost and drown in them.

Progression

-everything in this game is progress. As little as it may seem, your going to use just about everything you find.

-Your going to eventually explore greater depths to progress in the game. To prevent spoilers, i will not say exactly where you need to go, but it gets interresting.

-If you die, anything that you loose will stay there untill you pick it back up. You dont really loose anything except consumables, and vehicles.

-Exploration always helps you progress in the game. Even if you dont come back with anything, you still get to know the surrounding area.

-Start crafting all your tools and gear as soon as you can, as well as upgrades. The sooner you get better items, the faster you will progress

-Remember to save your game every 20-30 minutes or so, as subnautica has no autosave system. Though this can be a good thing if you mess up. That being said, always save your game before exploring an unknown area.

Lost river

-The lost river has 4 entrances, scattered around the map. Your going to need a vehicle if you want to survive.

-A cyclops is recommended to travel in the lost river, with either a prawn suit or a seamoth in the docking bay. Prawn suit is better.

-If you have a prawn suit, you can get crystal sulfur from the greenish sulfur lakes and rivers at the floor of the lost river.

-The greenish sulfur lakes and rivers found at the floor of the river will damage you if you swim in them.

-Be careful of leviathans here. You may come across a few while here. If you have a stasis rifle, use it to your advantage.

-Always be aware of where you are, you can get lost here fairly easy.

-The lost river leads into the ILZ, or also known as, the inactive lava zone, which we will discuss in the next section. Do not get the entrances to the ILZ mixed up with the Lost river exits. Only go into the ILZ if you are prepared.

Inactive lava zone

-Be prepared to encounter a new type of leviathan, the fire breathing sea-dragon leviathan.

-Do not bring your cyclops in this zone, your better off bringing your prawn suit, as your cyclops can be easily targeted by the sea dragons

-You will find the alien thermal plant and kyanite here. they are both found in the caves in the center mound area.

-You will find the 2 entrances to the active lava zone here, also known as the lava pits. Be careful around these areas.

-Watch for Leech-like creatures. These guys will suck the energy from your vehicle. Bring extra power cells in case of emergency.

-Keep distance from sea dragons. They spit balls of fire and grab onto your vehicles like a reaper, then smack you across the chamber. They do quite a bit of damage.

-The Alien thermal plant requires a purple tablet

-The alien thermal plant coordinates are (-50, 65) -1206

-You will need depth upgrades to go deeper.

Active lava zone

– First thing you should watch out for is thoes sea dragons. They can be an issue, and theres more here than in the ILZ.

– Watch out for lava because lava is very hot

– Its not hard to find the primary containment chamber, but your gonna have to rush to get inside because again, sea dragons.

– Your going to need a blue tablet to get inside the chamber itself

– A prawn suit with a drill arm is highly suggested as you can get infinite ion cubes from the center pedestal area.

– There are 4 portals here you can activate to warp you around the map, and a fifth one inside the chamber itself. One ion cube is needed for each

– I suggest putting beacons outside each portal so you dont have to go all the way through the lost river and ILZ to get to the containment

– The 4 normal portals take you to the bulb zone (1357, 693, -301), Mushroom forrest (-803, 409, -227), Dunes (-1401, -52, -296) and ghost tree (-886, 1041, -612)

– the chamber portal takes you to the mountains, right outside the enforcement platform. (463, 1353, -165)
