Overview
This guide will tell you what you need to know as many dinosaurs (Of what I main/play/have experience in) in The Isle. Telling you what you can go up against and what you can’t, how some back up can save your skin, and seeing how much damage your ass can do.And maybe we’ll get a bit into the cancerous community of it, if you’re lucky. So let’s get started, shall we?
Herbivores
Now, to start off with herbivores let’s do the one everyone hates the most.
Taco. No I’m not talking about a mexican food. A small, chubby little thing that goes about 0.1MPH whenever you are in a rush. It has quills on the top of its tail somewhat like a porcupine. This little thing has nothing to defend itself besides maybe being annoying by spamming broadcast or danger/help call. Your main objective as this little guy is to find blue ferns, just two of them to progress to a way faster dinosaur (Dryo). You’ll get a spawn nearby some ferns, andd I suggest don’t make any noise. If you do maybe a herrera or a velo is looking for a snack.
Now to dryo, if of course you made it this far which many people don’t. Again a chubby dinosaur when it comes to it’s body, a small thin tail and along with a sleek neck. It has one attack, hissing/spitting on things. You can one-shot a velociraptor that is biting at your booty but anything else you do nothing to, besides another dryo. Your weapon besides your spitting is your cuteness, a lot of herbivores or even carnivores falling for this little cute helpless thing. If you’re lucky they’ll lead you to some ferns to help you along your trip or if not… I’d steer clear no matter what. Even if they friendly call do not trust -anyone-.
Galliminus, 25 progression points to get, is the fastest herbivore in the game. Even if you are so fast, a carno or even a ambushing giga can catch your annoying ass. If you go galli you cannot progress to a Tier 4, so you’ll either stay galli or progress to another Tier 3. Your attack is karata kicking the living ♥♥♥♥ out of everyone. Currently, gallis can’t kick the ♥♥♥♥ out of velos/herreras/austros so it’s broken to those things. You can’t even kick other gallis or even dryos. But bigger things? Oh, yes. Your speed is what keeps you alive, barely anything able to catch up to your little ass. If you’re looking to troll or annoy the living hell out of others, here you are.
Maiasauras, a 35 progression points to reach, is another very fast yet bulky herbivore. If you don’t want to be slow as hell but want to do some damage, here is the dinosaur for you. With one head butt you can make a giga limp from that thick dome of yours. That is your only attack, crushing other’s dreams using your head. I’ve figured the key to being a maia is, keep your distance and stay alert. A ambushing giga, spino, or even rex can catch up to you in no time if you’re not keeping careful of your surroundings. If one does manage to get close enough to take a bite of that sweet tail, start dodging in the trees if there are any around. They’ll start assuming you are going one way and once they turn that way, turn the other way. Keep your stamina full or close to it if you want to survive as this guy, because usually after their ambush speed wears off they’ll stop the hunt after you.
Diablosaurus, a 30 progression points dinosaur, is basically a small trike. It’s not as fast as a maia but it’s enough to keep you out of trouble. These obnoxiously loud little hell-makers are adorable until you hear that threaten roar of theirs. They seem cute with four little horns, waddling around eating their ferns until a velociraptor, or even a herrera decides to make a mistake. Then, be warned to stick out of the way unless you’re an apex. A diablo alone can strike a overly confident carno alone, and many other smaller carnivores including any babies near .3 or .4. Your main concern is allos, suchos, carnos if not alone, and apexes such as gigas, rexes, and spinos. You have a little speed to get away in a hurry but if you’re lucky a trike will come to your rescue and take you under his wing, showing those who threatened you once coware in fear.
Pachycephalosaurus, or Pachy, is a 25 progression points to get to this adorable little lamb sounding dinosaur. Your attack is crushing the bones of carnivores smaller than you with that stubborn/thick dome of a head you have there. You don’t really have speed and your stamina is OK, but to carnivores you are an easy meal. I suggest you keep a low profile, only friendly if you see another herbivore and ask them to help you out to ferns to get to your next tier. If not, stay hidden in the ferns before a carnivore eats you in one bite.
Trike, 50 progression points to get to, is a fat-but-don’t-tap merciless dinosaurs. Alone it can take out two rexes, minus two of the diablo’s horns. You have no speed, but you go a distance while running or even trotting. Most carnivores, even apexes, shouldn’t ♥♥♥♥ with you unless they want to die of bloodloss or one of your bonecrushing stomps to the ground. Your appearance doesn’t make you seem that deadly with your speed but your threaten does. A cocky carnivore alone will try to come at you but you should be able to take care of yourself. Even if you do die, you’ll take someone down with your bloodloss.
Tip: Never threaten when face-to-face with a carnivore because you can’t attack while making any noises. Stay quiet, and wait to make your move.
Anky, known as the honkers of the dinosaur world, (50 pp) is basically a armored turtle with a sledge hammer for a tail. With the cute little honks don’t assume this guy is friendly. With one swing you can get crippled, knocked down to low health. If the anky is merciful it may leave you to think twice about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with it, if not.. good luck limping away from this honker. Your weapon is that hell of a nice tail, crushing ankles in just one swing or even killing smaller dinosaurs such as carnos, utahs, or even an allo. Apexes can take you down with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up hitbox so stay friendly unless they threaten and wait for the time is right. Wait till they sit down and waddle your ass up, swinging at their asses like theirs no tomorrow.
Theriz, a 45 progression points to get to, is a giant turkey with a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of floofiness and razor sharp claws. You have speed, but your turning isn’t so good when fighting with others. So never turn your back to a carnivore or it will take it’s chance. Little carnivores will fear you, knowing only one swipe can take them out. If in the middle of a fight don’t move, wait for them to charge you and flail those deadly rakes for claws you have. You should be able to do a decent ammount of damage, or even make the carnivore regret they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with you by dying.
My favorite herbivore, Shantu, a 180 progression points to reach. Yes, the points are steep but I assure you this tank of a dinosaur is worth it all. With one headbutt you can cripple any apex, and in one good timed stomp you can take a rex out. Most apexes or other carnivores won’t mess with you if they know what’s good for them. Your weakness if that big ol’ booty of yours, waiting to be bitten at. With alt turn, you should get used to it if you play this dinosaur. Another weakness is giga packs, or even rex packs. Two hungry rexes can take you out if you aren’t careful enough. If they just circle, charge up and break one’s leg, and stomp the other when able to. You have speed on your side, only a little slower than a maia. So if you are looking for a dinosaur that can haul ass and do great damage, this one my friend is for you.
Not adding Puerta until it is fixed (currently invincible and annoying af).
Carnivores! (At Last)
Yes, I know it has been too long!! 😀 And my herbivores needs to be updated! ;c; But let me do this first, because it has been ages.
So, carnivores. The meat eating world of the dinosaurs, full of sharp teeth and a lust/hunger for blood. To start us off, let us start with the small little velociraptor.
Velociraptor
The bottom feeder of all the carnivores. Basically one shot by everything, excluding the things with no attack (Camara, Taco, Oro). The key to surviving as this useless little guy is usually hiding and keeping your distance. You rarely see velos hunt, as most tier 1 herbivores tend to keep quiet to survive. They are scavengers and annoying little pests when there hitbox is so small, sometimes when you hit them you miss completely. They usually take little bites of left over kills; even though in progression you don’t need food! Key to surviving? Stick around a friendly apex; or stay hidden until you can progress.
Onto tier 2 carnivores!
Herrera
One of my loved one’s favorite, herrera! A small little bean for a carnivore, always seeming to be in a hurry! When ambushing, his speed is VERY fast; he can catch up to a lot of things with it (maybe a galli, depends on your distance~!) and even without ambush speed, he is decently quick and has very good stamina! With how harmless he is to most carnivores, he is usually pushed aside and not bothered with or hunted by a hungry allo/carno/sucho/bary. Other carnivores rarely try as they can’t catch up with the bean. As a herrera, your typically meal is a dryo, oro, or taco. Oro and taco for herrera provide 2 bites of food (maybe 1). So the typical meal for this guy is usually a dryo, take galli out of the picture as they still oneshot I believe. If you are desperate, cannibalism or fighting for your meal is always a plan B! Herrera’s greatest trait besides its speed is its turn radius! It’s 10x better than austro, so it can easily kill it (especially with austro’s bad stamina, it can’t run away)!
Tip: Don’t kill anything near/in water, mostly IMPOSSIBLE to eat it.
Austroraptor
One of MY favorite carnivores to play, a feathered raptor that cackles when it roars. Feathers coating its small little arms to the edges of its tail, along with some on its head. This cute fuzzball is well underestimated, as its speed is as poor as its turn radius. Alone (sometimes in partners) they tend to scavenge. If they are EXPERIENCED austroraptors, maybe 3-4, or even 5 in a pack will take on the two things they can pounce on. A carno, or a trike! Austro does very good damage on its own on a carno, but in a pack they can take a noob carno away easily! But never underestimate what you are hunting. The prey and predator tables can turn drastically.
