How to Survive Husks (Velonaceps)

Overview

First guide, informing you on how to survive husks, rogue players/doctors, and etc.

Doctors in-game

Doctors are probably the most strange people you’ll meet in the sub. With what I’ve found, usually doctors that talk with mics are trustworthy. Also, if there are two doctors and you can trust one, that’s a major help in-game. If there is a trusty doctor in the sub, they can heal and detect infected crew members with their visor HUD.

Detection

All right, this one is a little hard if you’re not a doctor. Detecting a player that is infected is indeed hard, because they usually act normal. But, if you see them losing health, inform the crew immediately. This is a sign of stage 2 husk infection, and the infected member might try to heal itself by infecting others. Beware, once you kill an infected member, about ten seconds later they will be reborn and fully controlled by the AI. Their AI is no different from regular husks in this stage. I advise you to just run away from husks unless you have a stun baton or a fully loaded pistol.

Elimination

Killing the husks, no matter what size, is pretty hard. You’ll have to get your hands on a stun baton, as this is probably the best method. If you’re lucky, however, you may find a pistol. Being the officer or captain of the ship is the best way to get these weapons. If you are a doctor, and there is a syringe gun on board, load it with choral hydrate and fire it at the husk. This will stun it for a short while, giving you time to inject it with acid. Eventually, it will die off. Also, crowbars can also kill husks, but it’s very risky.

Outbreak

If an outbreak occurs, I suggest you to grab a weapon of any kind, be it a stun stick, pistol, harpoon gun, crowbar, or welding tool. A weapon of any kind will help you in your survival, so remember to grab one. Grabbing a diving mask with extra canisters is a good idea, and hiding near the diving suits is your best bet for survival. Eventually, the sub will, leak, catch on fire, or explode. Any of these can cause the ship to crash and then the leaks will start. During this time, grab a diving suit and remember to have extra canisters at the ready. Remember, husks can survive any pressure underwater, so don’t forget about them! If the survivors in the server are minimal, and the sub has crashed, hiding somewhere where husks can’t get will be a good idea. Eventually, the dead people in the server will vote a round end.

[BONUS] Rogue Players

5 out of 10 times you join a server, or a new game starts, there will be a rogue player. These players can sometimes make the server more fun or just ruin it for everyone. Don’t trust any crew member aboard the sub unless it’s your friend. I recommend using a stun stick to stun them, then inject them with acid or cuff them. This will be much easier if you’re a security officer or the captain.

Different Jobs

All jobs have a different role in the sub, and have access to different tools and items. For example, as a mechanic you can make your own weapons and ammo as long as people don’t catch you. Engineers are the worst to be as because they are always forced to operate the reactor. They cannot make weapons either, however if I’m correct they start with a crowbar. Crowbars are a decent weapon for attacking husks, and if you’re lucky you can break into the armory using the crowbar. But beware, opening a door or hatch with the crowbar is loud, and experienced security officers can already guess who did it. Being a security officer or captain are the best to play if you are in a Velonaceps transport mission. Remember to keep an eye on the doctor at all times, and guarding the egg area is a good idea. If you see anyone trying to grab eggs, smack them over the head with your stun stick and kill them. Telling the crew on the radio isn’t a real good idea, because they might think you are a rogue and kill you. Also, if a crew member tells you to leave your guarding post, they are probably trying to convince you to leave so they can grab husk eggs.

Ending

Thanks for reading my first guide, hope this can help you survive husk outbreaks in the future. Also, if I got any info wrong, inform me in the comments. Sorry if it’s not cleaned up and looks like I just slapped text in. My hands hurt from typing now, bye.

This guide was a joke to trigger people who thought Calyxanide was going to be in this guide, ignore this.
