How to Survive the Backrooms

Overview

This guide will show you what to do to survive the backrooms, and give some basic info on how to play the game.

Quick tips you need to know (if you want to win)

1. do NOT spam your watch, try to check it on a consistent basis (i.e if you open the watch and you’re a few seconds off, do not close it and reopen it, just wait it out if it is within 5ish seconds)
2. do NOT stare at the lights, for whatever reason they make you go insane faster
3. avoid sprinting, unless “It” is nearby and you need a quick getaway
4. when you hear a heavy static, “It” is nearby, and you should quickly and calmly change directions and avoid the area you heard it at all costs
5. try to stick to one direction, and go slowly around corners to avoid bumping into “It”

Other relevant info

1. take turns slowly and cautiously to avoid bumping into “It”
2. use headphones as they will greatly assist with determining the location of “It”
3. the backrooms and their exit points are randomly generated, so no two playthroughs will be the same – one playthough may last a few minutes, another may be upwards of a half hour
4. approach a potential exit calmly to avoid last minute mistakes
5. if you encounter it (either by hearing or seeing), SLOWLY turn 180 degrees and find an alternative route
6. although tempting, try not to look around too much- sticking to one direction helps your character avoid sights that will make them go insane
