XCOM: Enemy Unknown Guide

How to survive the feels. for XCOM: Enemy Unknown

How to survive the feels.

Overview

This guide will hopfully help you in times of great peril…When your “super badass mc badass take no shizz from xeno scum” badass…Dies…Yes it happens from time to time and it always leaves a sting in your heart…(Course if you are not in ironman mode just reload the dang save!)

Step one: Remember the five stages of grief

1: Denial.
Lets face it, when that cinimatic happens on our badass and we watch them die- You will always mutter “No…That cant happen to Badass Mc Badass!”

And most of the time, its a death not worthy of them. But you can’t sit there and deny that they are dead- You have people to lead. Which carries over to the next stage.

2: Anger.
And after Badass Mc Badass hits the floor, his/her blood spraying the ground as that one stray plasma shot, or gernade get him/her and…Well…Kills badass mc badass, you want to stomp each and every one of the Xeno’s heads in and make them wish they never even thought of invading earth.

But once again, remember you still got other…Less badass then badass mc badass to lead. And if you let anger win over reasoning you will just kill more of those men who trust your guidence then you will ever of Xeno’s. Besides, someones gotta avenge’em!

3: Bargaining.

“If only I healed them sooner…”
“If only I made them dash there then scout ahead…”
“If only that berserker didn’t jump from no-where and smash him/her into tiny bits then get blown up by a plasma gernade…”

These are things you will find yourself muttering so many times over when Badass Mc Badass dies. But think of it this way, badass mc badass died to let everyone else move on- imagine if someone else was there instead of badass mc badass. Imagine how he/she would have felt watching a recruit, or a squaddie die on the mission with them. Badass would’ve wanted it this way.

4:Depression.

Now we all know this feeling when Badass dies…The extreme sadness of watching a elite soldier who you’ve cherished though all the missions, taking that plasma shot that nearly killed them and excaping and sighing “You did it badass, you completed the mission…” All those memories ruined by their death…

5: Acceptance.

A true bliss when after it all…Another Badass Mc Badass rises, someone to replace the hole that the last one left, someone who will lead the squaddies to ranking against the xeno hordes, and will save this Earth.

Until this badass gets killed aswell

Step Two: Emotion

Just let it go…Its ok, emotion is good. Only Xeno’s don’t have them.

Author’s Note:

Holy butts I never expected this guide to get so popular!

I made this after I lost two max level troops in the same mission at 11:30 PM. And so with that, I decided to make a joke guide to laugh at instead of being upset at losing my troops, and well. Here it is, a highly rated guide that seems to be fairly popular with quite a few funny comments/how people lost their best!

So I just want to say after all this time, thank you all for viewing and rating up this joke guide made by some rando in the middle of the night after losing some soldiers and being upset at it! And thank you for those who posted comments, they are a great read everytime one gets posted!

Update 2:
5 years later and this guide is still getting comments and upvotes – We’re finally into the top ten guides of all time for Xcom: enemy Unknown/Within!

I seriously never expected this guide to be as popular as it has gotten – Especially after all these years!
