A lot of people has experienced problems with getting leader, map and victory-type achievements in CiV:BE despite meeting all required conditions. In this guide I’ll explain the main reason that prevents achievements from unlocking.
CiV: BE Achievements problems
A lot of people has experienced problems with getting achievements after winning their game. After looking for solution I’ve found a culprit, so If You struggle with getting Your apollo victory trophy to register, this guide may help You.
How can I get my victory, leader and map achievements?
In CiV: BE achievement system is in many ways similar to this known from CiV 5 and it’s DLCs, which means that most game mods will dissable getting achievements for You. But in CiV: BE there seems to be one more reason that may prevent You from getting ONLY Your victory, leader and map – type achievements after finishing the game.
After some digging I’ve found that the most probable cause for this to happen is hitting “Restart Map” button, right after You settle Your first city, in order to reset Your map. So if You want to score Your achievements just do not ever click this button.
How can I reset my map and still get achievements?
Unfortunately the only way that works in 100% cases would be to go back to main menu and go through whole game sett-up process again. So make sure You start over from this screen:
And everything should work fine.
I’ve saved my game just one turn before victory, will I be able to use it and get my achievements?
Again, unfortunately it seems to be futile now, the thing preventing You from getting Your achievements is, in most cases, reseting the map which seems to somehow dissable them. This may require further testing, and experimenting with game seeds, but at this moment I’am unable to provide You with any solution.
Let’s hope that Firaxis will adress this problem as soon as possible.
I am 100% sure that I’ve not reset my map and still got no achievements
It is possible that there is more than one factor in play here preventing You from getting achievements, but after some testing reseting map and installing game-mods seems to be the most often cases.
How to get “There is no try” achevement
This achievement is in fact much harder than it’s predecessor from CiV 5, mainly due to it’s poor description. In CiV 5 to get this achievement You had to just sit and wait untill other civs build 10 wonders. But in BE this works a bit diferent.
What to do?
To get this achievement, not only You need to unlock correct technology in right time, but also get beaten to a wonder by AI while You’re constructing it in one of Your cities. Getting acount for BE unpredictable tech tree this may be very hard to do.
How do I get it?
Best way I’ve found if to start playing on a moderate difficulty landing on a standard atlantean map and focus on unlocking some early wonders like Gene Vault, Stellar Codex, Panopticon or Ectogenesis Pod.
The AI tends to build them quite fast so what You have to do is start building one of Your wonders in a low production city (this’ll prevent You from actualy building a wonder before AI) and just wait.
