How to use Steam Overlay with Jedi Outcast and upload screenshots

Overview

In a galaxy not too long ago today, I was reading some posts where some users were experiencing difficulties with the Steam Overlay functionality in Jedi Outcast (and Jedi Academy also), primarily for “screenshots” a la F12 key. Some argue that it’s just not possible because the game “isn’t supported to use Steam Overlay”, but this is completely false. Some games like Jedi Outcast require administration rights from the Steam app itself. To make Steam Overlay compatible with Jedi Outcast, simply exit steam and re-launch the program with admin privileges (you can do this by right clicking the Steam program/shortcut and selecting “run as administrator”). Now if you launch Jedi Outcast, you will find Steam Overlay working as it should. Take photos, make memories, and upload them for the Steam Community to view. Enjoy!May the Force be with you.- Sunbathing Alien
