Overview
Taking into account the latest updates on these achievements, this is a mostly hands free approach at getting them.
How the achievements work
According to one of the latest patches, “I like this game” and “I’m addicted” now work based on your steam hours. As in, the play time that shows in your library:
It doesn’t matter how you have the game running, or what do you do in it anymore (unlike what older guides recommend) as only the steam stats count.
You need to have a public profile and to exit the game through the menus (not by alt+f4) for these achievements to update.
My recommended way of getting these
Literally idle the game. You can make use of card idling software for this (e.g. IdleMaster, ASF), or anything that will raise your steam play time. After making sure your library says the number of hours you want, stop idling, launch the game, quit it via menus, and it should update and give you the achievement.
If you are going for 100% achievements, I recommend resorting to this after doing all other achievements, as they all encourage you to play the game and passively build up these 2 achievements.
Using this method you can be idling cards from other games while doing this achievement and you will be using less processing power. It basically is a “turn on and forget” system. On the other hand, you need to have a way to idle the game.
Additional notes
Steam Idle Master can be aquired here[www.steamidlemaster.com]. Iirc it has been discontinued but it might still be functional.
Archie Steam Farm (ASF) can be aquired here[github.com]. This one doesn’t even require you to be online on Steam.
I’ll not help you setup any of these systems as they should have instructions on their own sites on how to do this. Enjoy not having to actually play a 6h game with linear story and little replayability for 40h.
