Overview
This guide will tell you exactly how to grind gems, allowing you to unlock every prisoner without getting an A++ on every level in all four campaigns. (Because honestly, who has the time and patience for that?)Just a heads up, you will need at least one gamepad for this because we need to be able to control 2 players at once, despite not actually doing anything for a couple minutes at a time.
Set up the game
Enter a local game, choose Arena mode, and choose VS. It doesn’t matter which gamemode you choose, but I will be using Muckle.
Set up the players
This is where the gamepad comes in. One prisoner will be controlled using the keyboard, and the other with the gamepad. It doesn’t matter what you equip, just make sure there are at least 2 players. While you’re here, take note of which prisoner has your username and which one is Prisoner 2.
Play, then wait
Enter the first door to begin a match. Once in, take control of the prisoner with your username and get at least one point. Once you’ve done this you just have to wait 2 minutes for the match to end. If you need something to do, you can practice your combat skills, sit there watching the clock run out, or keep the game running in the background while doing something else, like watching YouTube or tweeting. (Just make sure you check back when the 2 minutes is up)
Recieve Gems!
Once the match is over, you will be rewarded with 5 gems, 4 for winning and 1 for getting MVP. (Quick note: You may not recieve MVP if idling in King of the Hill)
Repeat as needed
Once you leave the results screen, you’ll automatically be thrown into a second match, and then a third after that. For both of these, repeat the process and check back in 2 minutes. After the third match you’ll end up back in the lobby, where you can access the gift shop, quit the game, or just go into another match to get 15 more gems.
FAQ
Quick note: If you ask me a question in the comments, I may add it here. (Even if it’s only been asked by you) Thanks for helping me write this FAQ!
What can I do with these gems?
Gems can be used for unlocking prisoners and as leverage for trading. You can sell the prisoners in the Market to make a couple cents (wait, what?), and you will get achievements for unlocking enough prisoners.
Can I play with 3 or 4 players to get more gems?
You can play with 3 or 4 players if you like, but you won’t get any extra gems for it. It’s better to just keep it at 2 to keep things uncomplicated.
When I start a YouTube video, the game pauses.
That’s not a question, but your problem may be that the game pauses when the game loses focus. Try this: Set BattleBlock to windowed mode, put it on one side of the screen, set up your video on the other side, press play, click back over to BBT, and unpause.
Do I have to check back every 2 minutes to get the gems? Can I just idle for 6 minutes at a time?
You don’t have to check back every 2 minutes, but this will give you a chance to get a point for each round.
Can I just leave the score at 0-0?
Yes, but if you do you’ll only recieve one gem for each round. I’ve found it’s way more efficient to get a point for each round because that multiplies your income by 5.
