Insanely Good Keyboard Controls for BattleBlock Theater

Insanely Good Keyboard Controls

Overview

Don’t have the money for a controller? Hate the default keyboard controls? There’s an answer… THIS GUIDE!Get the best keyboard controls, right here! Also please note these controls are not for everyone! Feel free to edit them to your level and don’t comment saying how they suck or anything. Not everyone has the same taste.

The Keyboard Settings Menu

First, you need to go to your keyboard settings.

On the main menu (or, if your in-game, press pause, which is by default ESC.) go to:

1. Help & Options
2. Controls

To edit a key, click the control you have selected then press the key you want that control to be set at.

Alright, now that you know that, we can start!

My Keyboard Configuration

This is my configuration. Although not everyone finds it the best, many players find it useful as it’s much like other games and has a classic gamer style.

If you do not like this configuration, I reccomend using it as a building block for your own.

It includes the classic WASD, and uses W or the Up Arrow to jump. You can change this to spacebar if you’d like, but I perfer it because it’s what I use in Castle Crashers. (Another game by the Behemoth.)

Since W is to jump, you’re going to need to use Q to go up poles. That might be uncomfortable, but you can spam W and go up a pole even faster then normal.
When navigating the trade interface, use Q to go up. You’ll get use to this.

Do go around the whole “Q” inconvenience, you can change jump to spacebar and up to W. I like W for jump as it’s near the moving keys, so you can technically move with one hand.

Final Notes and Conclusion

Notes:

-This configuration can be played with one hand.
-WASD is a commonly used movement pattern for many gamers, but if you perfer the arrow keys, you can just switch them out.
-You can “cycle” through items with the brackets. Even though you only have 2 weapons.
-A user pointed out how the up arrow isn’t that comfortable and perfers the spacebar as it’s classic. You can do this, but W is better because you can use your left for moving, you right for attacks.
-Please do not copy this guide, these are my controls.

Thanks for reading and have fun in Battleblock Theater!

I have a similar guide for Castle Crashers. (It’s pretty much the same thing.)
