Overview
A *very* little guide to get the game and all DLC working (including the extension).
Introduction
For those among you out there who encounter difficulties in getting their DLC and Extension to show up in the game menus:
THERE’S PROBABLY ABSOLUTELY *NO* NEED TO FIDDLE WITH THE XML FILES!
Essentials
- move to your steam folder and follow it down to steamApps/common/DAOU
- find (and enter) the folder redist
- run the following tools (in this order should be best, but probably doesn’t matter):
– DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam.exe
– DAUServiceSetup_Steam.exe - launch the game . everything should be there in place 🙂
Additional DLC
There are plenty of links to additional content out there, especially promo content is widely spread (keep an eye open on the discussions here).
Swifty Magee wants you to know where to get the free DLC:
Originally posted by “Swifty Magee”:all of Dragon Age 1 and 2’s promo DLC is now completely free! All you need to do is to have an EA account, and while logged in, go to this page on the Bioware Social Network site: [link]
On that page, all you have to do is choose what platform you want all the promo DLC to be redeemed under, and then click on the “Unlock Dragon Age Items” button.
This was originally a 2012 holiday gift from the devs to the gamers, but I just found out about it and tried it today, and it still works!”
UPDATED NOTE: Bioware Social has been closed. It seems that all DLC are included in the Ultimate Edition now (feel free to send me a PM to confirm or deny).
OPTIONAL
- get any promo DLC you’d like to install () in .dazip format
- goto to your DAOU folder (see 1. above)
- find (and enter) the folder bin_ship
- launch DAUpdater.exe
- select the DLC from the folder where you saved them
- mark all and hit install
- launch the game and everything should be there in place
NOTE: it is *NOT* necessary to fiddle around with the promo DLC, nor will you need to extract and compose them yourself – the vanilla updater will work very well and add them to your game automatically.
ENJOY THE GAME 🙂
Configuration Issues
Word is that some among us have problems with the game launcher and/or the DAOriginsConfig.exe.
If you are one of those, make sure you have checked out Aemony’s hints from the forums:
