Androxus
Androxus was one of the original nine Champions in Paladins’ Alpha phase. He was briefly available during this phase but was removed before the start of Closed Beta so as to receive extra work. He had a different character design than his current one.
Androxus’ Flourish emote is a reference to a scene from the action-adventure game Metal Gear Solid 3 involving the character Ocelot.
Androxus’ Screech skin is a reference to the slasher film Scream
Buck
He and Bomb King are voiced by the same actor.
One of Buck’s voice lines “I am the champion!” is a reference to the song “We Are The Champions” by Queen.
One of Triggerman Buck’s voice lines “I don’t like violence, I’m a businessman. Blood is expensive.” is a reference to The Godfather.
One of Triggerman Buck’s voice lines “I don’t know who you are or what you want, but I will find you, and I’ll be really not nice to you.” is a reference to Taken.
Buck Wild Buck skin was inspired by American wrestler Hulk Hogan.
Evie
Evie’s gender was not defined until later stages of development, with some official concept art featuring both male and female versions of them.
One of Evie’s jokes, “No, I’m not the shiny version, stop asking,” is a reference to Eevee from the Pokemón franchise.
One of Evie’s quotes “We did it, we did it, hooray” is a reference to Dora the Explorer.
Initially, Evie could create illusions to attack enemies, but this concept was removed and eventually given to Ying.
One of Evie’s dying quotes is “So…this is despair.” said in awe. This could be a reference to Junko Enoshima from the Danganronpa series who has an obsessive joy of all things despair.
One of Evie’s voicelines “I tried to play by the rules, but nooo!” might be a reference to Harley Quinn in the Batman: The Animated Series, Episode “Harley’s Holiday”.
One of Sweet Shop Evie’s jokes like, “What’s Bomb King’s favorite candy? A warhead!” is likely a reference to the real-life sour candy of the same name.
Moji
Moji’s mount is named Po-Li.
Moji appears to have red eyes, but when you look at her eyes from behind the glasses, you’ll see that her eyes are cyan.
Skye
Skye’s Default Skin was reworked on November 14, 2018.
The “Academic” skin is a reference to Japanese school wear.
The “Pilot Suit” skin is a reference to the anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and its character, Rei Ayanami.
The “Shimmy” emote is a reference to a K-pop dance, Blackpink – As if it’s your last.
She and Tiberius share similar “not like this” death quotes.
Zhin
Zhin’s Kindle emote could be a reference to the bonfires from the Dark Souls series.
Zhin’s Ebon Star skins are a reference to the Star Wars film series.
Zhin’s Ebon Star voice pack also received a major change to make it sound like he had his helmet on.
When Zhin is on killstreak, sometimes he says “Let the Bodies hit the floor!”. This is a reference to the song “Bodies” by Drowing Pool, that begins with this phrase.
In the lore cinematic of Koga, Zhin mentored Koga before someone framed Koga and Zhin exiled him from the Thousand Hands.
One of his joke: “Appear weak when you are strong and strong when you are weak, which for you is always.” could be a reference to Sun Tzu’s The Art of War.
Koga
Koga’s Ultimate voice line, “You’re already dead…” is a reference to the signature phrase of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.
The “Curses!” voice line for the Shore Patrol skin comes from a meme of the same name that originated from Episode 10 of Real Bros of Simi Valley.
Maeve
Maeve in old Irish means “the cause of great joy” or “she who intoxicates”.
Several of Raeve Maeve’s voice lines are references to popular songs.
Maeve’s left sleeve can be seen in Magistrate’s Archives.
Maeve is confirmed to be a young adult.
Maeve’s purple color scheme is a reference to the color mauve.
Maeve makes a cameo appearance in the card artwork for Tiberius’ Alley-Cat card.
Talus
The artwork for Antediluvian depicts a statue of the ancient Makoa.
Lex
He is the future father of Atlas. His future wife was confirmed to be a random Realm inhabitant and not a canon Champion.
In his lore he and Androxus were partners.
Lex’s name in Latin means “law” or “statute”.
One of the pistols that he wields used to belong to his former partner Androxus
