Seris

Seris (Abby) and Furia (Sarah) are the first pair of confirmed siblings.
Under her blindfold, Seris has purple eyes.
Seris shares many similarities with Eris Morn from Bungie’s Destiny Series.

Ying

Ying was named after Ying Xie, one of the first five employees at Hi-Rez Studios
The “Love Burn” emote is a reference to a K-pop dance, Blackpink – Playing with fire.

Pip

One of Pip’s taunts, “You will remember this day, as the day you almost caught Pip the fire thief”, is a reference to a recurring quote from Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise.
Pip’s kill taunt to Grohk, “You’re blue da-be-di-be-de-dead!”, is a play on the song Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65.
Pip’s Ultimate Skill is called “Evil Mojo”. This is the same name as the one of the teams that develop Paladins has.
The flask on Pip’s “Catalyst” talent card resembles the one that creates the “Evil Mojo” sign at the beginning of many official Paladins-related videos. Mostly trailers and such.

Mal Damba

Mal’Damba’s cobra has no official name, but is lovingly nicknamed “Snek” by the community and “Oh Long” (short for Oh Long Johnson) by the developers.
Mal’Damba’s “Na’Vi” skin is a reference to the 2017-2018 Paladins World Champions team, Natus Vincere, or Na’Vi for short.
“Oh Long”‘ is based on the real world family of spitting cobras. As the name suggests, they’re capable of spitting venom from their fangs, usually when they feel threatened.

Jenos

Jenos share some similarities with Janus from SMITE, another game developed by Hi-Rez Studios.
One of Jenos’ taunts, “In the void, no one can hear you scream.”, is reference to the science fiction horror film Alien.
Jenos’ Ghoulish Goalie skin is a reference to the Friday the 13th franchise.
Jenos’ line “The power of the cosmos, in the palm of my hand” may be a reference to a similar quote in Sam Raimi’s Spider-man 2.

Io

Io is a moon on the planet Jupiter, just as Io is the moon goddess.
Io’s fox companion is named Luna, the name of Earth’s moon.
As stated in the developer Q&A upon Io’s release, Io and Luna are the same entity in two different bodies.

Grover

Grover originates from SMITE, another game developed by Hi-Rez Studios, where he is Sylvanus’ mount.
One of Grover’s Jokes, “A wise man once said, ‘I’m not very frond of you,'” is reference to one of Sylvanus’s Taunts.
Likewise, one of Grover’s Introductions, “Good morning! Time to get up! This forest needs our protection. Hehehehehehe!” is reference to one of Sylvanus’s Introductions.
Grover was originally a melee ranged bruiser, but received a significant rework with Paladins Closed Beta Version 0.33.1266.1, the patch released on September 12, 2016.
Grover’s taunt towards Fernando ,”Only you can stop forest fires!”, is a reference to Smokey the Bear.
Grover’s name is a pun on grove.

Grohk

Grohk’s line, “It’s not easy being blue, but it’s worse to be you!” might be a reference to Kermit the Frog’s song, “Bein’ Green”.
Grohk was called Wog in very early stages of development, but it was changed to his current name.
Grohk’s line, “I’m blue daba-dee-da-you-die,” is a reference to Eiffel 65’s song “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”.
Pip makes another reference to this song upon killing Grohk.
His emote “Grohk Slide” is a reference to the Electric Slide.
Grohk’s Default Skin was reworked on November 1, 2017.
The Neon Demon Grohk skin, along with the unreleased Barik’s “Spec Op skin” was present in the game since Closed Beta, specifically mid 2016, The Neon Demon received an unique voice pack in April 2017. And was publicly released on April 26th 2018.

Furia

Furia is the first champion released after the game’s launch.
Furia’s real name is Sarah.
Furia (Sarah) and Seris (Abby) are the first pair of siblings.
Furia is Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish for fury.
Furia’s Pyre Blade is a holy relic of the Eternal Pyre and is officially confirmed to not utilize crystal magic or mechanisms.

Corvus

While inspecting Corvus’ knife, You can hear Seris saying “It’s been awhile… friend.”
