Greetings virtual anglers! I hope you enjoy the Japan DLC as much as I do. This guide lists the locations, techniques, and equipment combinations I used to catch all 13 species on the map. Brown Trout
Location: 1-3, 10, 12 walk straight ahead toward dock
Hook: 4-5/0
Bait: Fly, natural egg, leech, red worm, maggot, dragonfly, grasshopper
Lure: Fly – OKENA Fly EE-B – Sink tip – Straight (2), Hard lure – Bomba Crank 60F – Twitch
Crucian Carp
Location: 11
Hook: 8-2/0
Bait: Red worm, corn, dough ball, maggot, bread
Lure: Fly – OKENA Fly mPH-II – Sink tip – Twitch
Notes: Best caught at noon
Giant Barb
Location: 1-2 (use boat @1), 4, 9,10 (near center island)
Hook: 1-12/0
Bait: Semolina ball, pea, corn, dragonfly, dough ball, grasshopper
Notes: This dark, scaly fish is easy to see at noon – the best time to fish for it.
Japanese Eel
Location: 3-6, 12 (toward Mt. Fuji or cherry blossom trees)
Hook: 1/0-7/0
Bait: Dragonfly, bread, pea, corn, cutbait small, red worm, grasshopper, fly, cheese, marshmallow
Lure: Fly – OKENA Fly mPH-I – Sinking – Lift & Drop (1); Soft lure – DAKINO ZZ 474 – Lift & Drop (1)
Notes: Mashmallows are great for catching them without attracting the other species on the map.
Koi Carp
Location: 11
Hook: 2-7/0
Bait: Corn, pea, semolina ball, maggot, dough ball, bread
Feeder: Herbal – grain
Notes: Look for the bright orange markings
Largemouth Bass
Location: 6, 9 – Take boat toward middle of the lake
Hook: 1-3/0
Bait: Maggot, fly
Lure: Fly – PANIT Fly MER-2 – Sink tip – Lift & Drop (2); Fly – OKENA Fly N-H20 – Sink Tip – Twitch
Northern Snakehead
Location: 1-4
Hook: 4-4/0
Bait: Wax worm, maggot, dragonfly, red worm, live bait
Lure: Spoon – DAKINO QRT2 – Straight slow; Spoon – OKENA Gx358 – Stop & Go; Fly – OKENA Fly EE-B – Sink tip – Straight (3)/Lift & Drop (2)
Feeder: Bloody salmon, smelly fish
Notes: These guys are abundant.
Rainbow Trout
Location: 2, 7, 12 (facing Mt. Fiji)
Hook: 2-8/0
Bait: Fly, maggot, red worm, artificial egg, cutbait large, dragonfly
Lure: Spinner – KUBOT KKW-9 – Straight (2), Fly – OKENA Fly MP-H II – Sink tip – Twitch
Sockeye Salmon
Location: 1, 6, 9-10
Hook: 4-4/0
Bait: Cutbait big, natural egg, cutbait small, artificial egg, wax worm

Wakasagi
Location: 11

Bait: Maggot, bread, wax worm
Notes: The best way I’ve found to catch them – turn on your flashlight to see them more easily, toss in a Herbal – grain groundbait, and fish with a #8 hook.
Wels Catfish
Location: 1 straight ahead on boat, 5, 6?, 7?, 9
Hook: 7/0-12/0
Bait: Cutbait large, leech, artificial egg, cutbait small, live bait
