Overview

A compilation of my own original challenges (I believe) and known challenges. Designed to be both difficult and fun!

In-depth original challenges

These may or may not have been created before, but I thought these up on my own. Read the item list carefully, as some lists are ‘disallowed items’ instead of ‘allowed items’ to make it shorter.

Good Old Days Lite [mid-20th century]

Disallowed Items:

  • Motion Sensor
  • IR Motion Sensor
  • Ghost-Pro (head-mounted camera)
  • Glowsticks
  • Thermometer
  • Sound Sensor
  • Strong Flashlight
  • Video Camera (goes without saying — no location cameras either).

Anything not mentioned is allowed here, and you can pretend things like Sanity Pills are drugs or something.

Good Old Days [Late 19th century]

Allowed Items:

  • Lighter
  • Candles
  • Crucifix
  • Spirit-box
  • Salt
  • Smudge sticks
  • Ghost-writing book
  • Photo camera (for necessary objectives)
  • UV Flashlight

Good Old Days [Early 19th century]

NOT RECOMMENDED – VERY EXPERIENCED ONLY

Allowed Items:

  • Lighter
  • Candles
  • Crucifix
  • Salt
  • Smudge sticks
  • Ghost-writing book
  • Glowstick

Special Rules:

  • Electricity in this era sucks — you can only turn on the breaker box twice. The ghost interacting with it doesn’t matter.
  • The glowstick is mostly included to find fingerprints, and I guess you can pretend you have some kind of weird contraption that you put over the candles that makes it work. Bring only one however.

Basic original challenges

Lights Out
  • Oh no, the power’s out! You also forgot to buy batteries for anything but the cameras… guess you’re stuck with candles, glowsticks, and that crappy dollar-store lighter.
  • Turn the breaker off immediately. I suppose you could use a real flashlight to get to the breaker box, or wait for the ghost to turn it off before entering.

    Jinns (or any dumb ghosts) that turn the breaker back on can be treated as the power coming back on.

UV flashlight broke
  • You can only use glow-sticks for locating fingerprints.

Technology is hard
  • Refuse to get with the times? Guess you can’t use some of your most valuable equipment, then.
  • Cameras, sensors and microphones should be treated as disabled. Spirit box, thermometer, and EMF readers are allowed.

Photo Op
  • You must get 5 clear photos of the ghost (‘clear’ being defined as at least 50% visible in the photo to at least one player, regardless of if it’s in shadow form or not).

Tech-testing
  • You can only use motion sensors, sound sensors, parabolic mics, and video cameras to help detect the ghost room. Thermometers, EMF readers, fingerprints, salt, ghost writing, and smudging cannot be used to detect the ghost room.
  • The listed above items can be used once you have high confidence in where the ghost room is.

Known challenges

0% Sanity Challenge
  • Sit in the dark for a while and lose all your sanity before conducting the investigation. Sanity pills are obviously not allowed.

Beginning Items Only
  • Bring no additional items.

RNG Challenge
  • Use a die (one dice) to determine what items you can bring. Come up with your own rules or follow these:
  • 1-2: Bring none of that item
  • 3-4: Bring one of that item
  • 5-6: Bring two of that item

    It’s up to you whether or not the above is considered ‘additional’ if it’s a default item.

Lockdown
  • You cannot leave once entered until you finish. Bringing items into the doorway doesn’t count as entering.

    Can be combined with RNG challenge (whether or not you can leave).

Blind leading the deaf
  • One person wears the Ghost-Pro (head-mounted camera), while everyone else stays in the van and guides them through the house.

    This one is too spooky for me.
