Overview
All commands listed here are OFFICIAL Server side commands and not admin addons or modifications. You may require direct server console access to perform bans/kicks. These commands are basics. These are for basic server moderation and are clunky to use. I recommend if you’re not going to use any admin modifications or addons you keep a tab open and learn the commands before trying to freehand them.
Introduction – L4D1 Vanilla Admin Commands
L4D1 Vanilla Admin Commands are for Servers without a server mods to enable players to become Moderators/Admins/Sadmins/OPs. Some server owners may not want to modify their server for several reasons, some being temporary servers or not wanting to configure complex admin menus.
Basic Admin Commands
For any Admin Commands you will either require RCON Access or direct access to the server console. Most commands here will be easier if you have direct access to the server console.
- addip (mins) (ipaddress) – Adds IPs to ban list.
– Not recommended. IP ban would only be used for ghosting/smurf accounts. Put 0 in Minuets slot for PERM Ban. - banid (mins) (STEAMID) kick – Kicks a player AND bans the player with a STEAMID.
– Recommended for kicking and banning players causing issues. Will kick a player with their STEAMID and add them to the ban list. Put 0 in Minuets slot for PERM Ban. - banid (mins) (STEAMID) – Bans a player without kicking them. Can be done after players have left the server.
- filterban 0 / 1 – Toggles off (0) or on (1) IP Banning.
– For enabling for server admins to ban IPs, Have to enable before banning IPs. - kick (Player) – Kicks player by name.
– Recommended for kicking problem players the quickest. - kick # (STEAMID) – Kicks player by STEAMID.
– Recommended for kicking problem players who have similar names, or names not able to typed out with regular english letters. - listid – Lists banned player’s STEAMID in order of being banned.
- listip – Lists banned player’s IP in order of being banned.
- removeid (STEAMID) – Removes STEAMID from ban list.
- removeip (ip address) – Removes IP from ban list.
- status – shows ALL player’s STEAMID in console.
- users – lists ALL player’s STEAMID in console.
- writeid – Writes unique ID’s to banned.cfg in server files.
– Recommended over IPs. - writeip – Writes unique IP’s to banned.cfg in server files.
HOW TO GET STEAMID: You can to ALT-TAB into your STEAM Overlay and check the Recent Players list. You can get their profile link and gather their STEAMID. Server OPs can gather IPs through the server console.
