Leaderboard Guide (Seen v0.6 Early Access)

Overview

This guide will hopefully help you out with getting on the leaderboard.

Intro to this guide

This guide was made to help you get on the leaderboard.
Please note that this guide was made while the game was still in early access, meaning that the game could update at any time in any way, thus likely changing the way things work in the game and as a result, invalidating this guide. This guide also cannot guarantee you to get on the leaderboard or be in a high spot on the leaderboard such as top 10 for example as there will likely be more and more people wanting to be on the leaderboard.

If you wish, you can watch a video of me getting 4th place on the leaderboard and use that video to help you get on the leaderboard as well. If not, then you can read the steps listed below.

In order to get on the leaderboard, you (obviously) need to get as high of a score as possible, and you also need that score to be high enough for you to end up on the leaderboard. That cannot be done by just simply collecting hope and determination that is already visible on the player’s screen, there are also hidden spots and places you have to go to in order to collect more hope and determination and get a higher score.
There are already great guides out there such as

(as of this guide being written) that already help you out with finding those hidden spots.
In order for you to get on the leaderboards, it is important that you go to all of those secret spots and locations in one run and to avoid hitting obstacles as well as restarting from a checkpoint. Every time you hit an obstacle, trip on something on the ground and every time you don’t cover your ears in time (press shift), your score decreases, which has an impact on your place on the leaderboard.

Checkpoint 0

At the beginning of the game, right before encountering the cat, there are two hidden spots. One of the spots is below the ground while the other one is hidden behind a wall.

When you encounter the cat, there’s also a special hope point that you can collect by jumping as the character starts running towards the cat. After that, there are three hidden spots that you need to go to in order to get a higher score.

Checkpoint 1

Right off the beginning of checkpoint 1, there are multiple hidden locations one after another. One of those hidden locations is like a puzzle, and that puzzle is the one with hope behind the blue glass walls. To get that hope behind the glass walls, you need to look at the blinking lights, see what doors the blinking lights are connected to (via a cable), and go through those doors. The hidden location right after that (the one with the elevator) cannot be gone to without going to the previous hidden location first, aka, you will need to go though the doors with the glass walls if you want to go to the location at the elevator.

The next hidden location is located below the ground, and you will need to fall through the hole in order to get to it. After you’ve collected all the hope from the secret locations, beware of the monkey that will try to disappoint you.

After that, there is a hidden location behind the obstacles before the door, a special hope point, and another hidden location that requires you to parkour to it

The next hidden location is close to the electrical room. It is also important that you collect all the hope in the electrical room, and once you have collected the hope at the top-right corner at the electrical room, the hopes you’ve collected will re-appear, thus allowing you to collect them again and increase your score. Beware though, once the hopes reappear, if you fall off, they will disappear regardless if you collected them or not, so do not fall off the platforms.

And at this point, you are almost done. Only a few things left to take care of and that’s it. Make sure to collect all of the hope and determination you see, do the stage with the button on the ground (and avoid touching the red disappointment orbs, because if you do, you will be disappointed by how much your score will decrease), and then after that, submit your score. After submitting your score, a few more hope will appear, collect those and submit the score again.

End

That is all this guide has to offer. Please do let me know if there is something I’ve missed as I was writing this guide (which there likely is) or if there is something you’d like add to this (like a comment for example). I hope you liked this guide and I hope the guide was helpful to you, if not, then I am sorry about that.
I wish you the best of luck, have fun.
