Overview
Just a small guide explaining Lex, one of the Champions from Paladins, and how to use him.
Introductions
Lex is a flank class, meaning he’s gonna get on the enemies back and start popping shots off. Lex, being an officer of the law, is paired up with a pair of Magnums that deals 350 damage every shot, with 10 clips (5 for each gun), you can quickly dispatch and eliminate someone in close to medium range. Despite being a flanker, he’s more of a damage, as his Magnums deals alot of damage in almost any scenario, except long range.
Abilities
Lex’s first ability (his right click), is Pursuit. Lex went into thirdperson mode, and begin to shoot rapidly at his enemies with 100% perfect accuracy and aim. It deals 1050 damage over 1.4s. and it acts as a weapon attack. Cooldown for this ability is 15 seconds, which is quite long. The ability doesn’t consume any ammo or clips from your weapon. This can be used to hurt your opponent, force them to retreat cause you’re firing tons of shots, finish off low health enemies or even long range attacks, but it doesn’t do much damage.
It is recommended to save your Pursuit for the first few shots, cause your weapon deals more damage. Then you finish them off with a Pursuit when you’re reloading. Keep in mind that Lex will only fire Pursuit at the enemy closest to him, so if 2 people are engaging you, you might only hurt them for a bit cause the shots are constantly hitting them differently and separately.
His second ability is Combat Slide (F button). Lex slides at the direction he is facing. When sliding, Lex can shoot and use his abilities as well as dodging some attacks. The cooldown is only 3 seconds, making it quick and usable in alot of situations. Using this ability can either save or screw you. Why do I say that? Well in most scenarios, most Lex players will either use this ability to escape sticky situations, slide into action or mess with the enemies. By messing, I mean by sliding into them during combat. Similiar to Zhin’s Twirl, you can move and pass through the enemy, and start shooting them at the back, which is useful for eliminating tanks. When you slide forward, most enemies will get confused and will take their time to turn around, while you’re already shooting at their backs. But if you’re facing with some top-tier players, they would most likely turn around faster that you would expect and mess you up.
His third ability is Retribution (Q button). Lex lower his weapons for a second and puts a bounty on a random enemy from the other team. The enemy with a bounty on them will be revealed to you when you’re near them. Killing the enemy with a bounty grants additional golds. However, when the enemy is on a killing streak, their bounty will get higher, as well as a raise in golds, so killing them will sorta make you rich. Cooldown is super long, 30 seconds, but it will activate itself when the round starts or not in use.(Kinda like a passive ability for Lex, Retribution just switches the bounty onto someone else) This ability doesn’t really do anything apart from that, so it’s like a support ability.
Ultimate
Lex’s Ultimate, The Law is a super situational, and can be a tide turner in game. Lex puts both of his Magnums together sideways, and fire a charged shot that instantly disintegrated any enemies at or below 65% of their health. If you’re hitting someone with their health higher than 65%, it will deal 600 damage instead, and slow them down for 1 seconds. If you’re doing the objective, and a surge of enemies are coming, you can hurt and bring them down to 65% of their health, have a teammate assist you in hurting or them using their ults to hurt them real low. This attack acts like a direct hit explosion, meaning you have to aim directly at the enemy, and when the shot hits, them alongside their nearby teammates will get hit.
Talents (Legendary Cards)
Like any other Champions, Lex have 4 talents to choose from before the start of the round.
His first and probably the best talent is Death Hastens. Your weapon shots deal 25% more damage to enemies over 65% health. Meaning you can easily bring your opponets to low health and finish them off with a Pursuit.
You can also make them low on health and finish them off with The Law.
His second talent which is also pretty good is Discovery. Lex deal 30% more damage to his Retributed bounty target and also reduces the cooldown of Retribution by 15 seconds. This allows you to target enemies and hurt them real bad as well as getting golds for doing that. However, you are constantly going after the Retributed target and that can be troublesome at some times. The reduced cooldown on Retribution is also good, as you can see most of the enemies through wall with it.
His third talent is Heroism. Lex’s Combat Slide will grant him 90% damage reduction and effect immunity(CC Immunity) when in use. This is pretty good when you’re getting away as you’re taking very, very minimum damage when you’re escaping. Pairing this up with Chronos and you’ll be sliding all day.
His last talent is The Law Won. Lex gets a 5% damage boost that stacks up to 5 times when killing his Retributed bounty target. Which means after killing your Retributed target you get a small amount of damage boost that slowly increases. This can be good as the bonus damage does not reset upon death, so you’re having a 25% damage boost the rest of the game if you killed 5 of your Retributed targets.
Cards and Shop Items
As for card builds, you can pick any you like. But if you’re going the best ones, I would probably suggest Commencement, Fortitude, Well Oiled, Justice Served and Juke Boots. Level them all to level 3 and you’re fine to go, I guess.
As for the items to buy, here are some of the ones I use during games. Keep in mind these are my opinion and choices so feel free to buy any of the others.
So you don’t die, enough said.
To speed up your cooldown, excellent for Pursuit and Retribution.
Move faster, excellent with Combat Slide, makes you speeding demon if it’s on level 3.
Make every one of your shot counts, hitting people grants health. Pairing Fortitude with this makes you a Leech.
When you’re raging officer, this is perfect for you.
So your Magnums could take a breath much more faster.
So you can put a middle finger at the enemy’s healer.
Thank you
