Lynx’s Guide to Cheating (No Console Commands Edition)

Overview

Want to cheat, but not feel like you’re truly cheating? Glitches and exploits are fair game right? This is the guide for you!

Unlimited XP/Caps Glitch

In Goodsprings during the Run Goodsprings Run quest, you can get infinite XP and loot using a speech or barter check. After finishing Back in the Saddle, the tutorial quest with Sunny Smiles, head back to the Prospector Saloon and overhear Joe Cobb and Trudy arguing. Wait for Joe Cobb to walk out and follow him to the building he leans against. Side with him in taking over Goodsprings and agree to settle things with Ringo. Go and kill Ringo in the gas station and return to Joe Cobb. He will then ask you to shake down the Goodsprings General Store, once he tells you to do this proceed to kill Joe Cobb and his Powder Gangers. Try sneaking behind him and once you’re hidden save the game in case you die and once you shoot him run behind the building and take out the Powder Gangers as they come around. You should level up, and put your points into Speech to get it to 25 if it isn’t already or put it into Barter and get it to 25 if it’s closer.

Go and shake down Chet for supplies: you can pass both the Barter or Speech check infinitely, resulting in infinite leather armors, 9mm ammo, and XP. You can sell those leather armors and 9mm ammo back to Chet or to other merchants for infinite caps.

Now this may get a little tiring so here’s a life hack…

Install an Auto Clicker

I use OP Auto Clicker: [link]

Once installed make sure you are in dialogue with Chet and Alt-Tab out of New Vegas

Open OP Auto Clicker and press the hotkey (Mine is “Q”) and carefully navigate your mouse to New Vegas on your task bar and the Auto Clicker will open it,

then move your mouse over “Continue” then hover your mouse over “The Powder Gangers need you to donate some supplies to them” and let the Auto Clicker select the option repeatedly for you, and now you can just sit there and let it do the work.

If you wish to turn it off Alt-Tab and press “Q” again.

Chet Double Perks Glitch

If you leave Goodsprings with all your perks you can double the amount you have by rebuilding your character. The game sets you to Level 1 and gives you all of your XP to pick everything again, but they don’t get rid of your perks from before!

Select “Rebuild Character” and once you have done that click “Finished” and the game will give you all of your XP back and you will have to manually spend your skill points and pick perks all over again.

Note: Educated will not work and you will now get 13 Skill Points to spend unless you pick it again and make sure you do so at Level 4 to get the most out of it!
If you want the most skill points possible try picking the Skilled trait beforehand it adds +5 to all skills(this requires Old World Blues), although keep in mind it reduces -10% to Experience points gained.

If you leave Goodsprings at Level 50 and rebuild your character you can get 2 Level 50 perks!

For some reason all the reputation gained from the XP glitch made my character a Messiah and I was able to pick the Thought You Died Perk requiring Good Karma, this reset me back to Neutral Karma but upon rebuilding my character and making it to 50 once again the Just Lucky I’m Alive Perk requiring Neutral Karma became available as my karma was reset from the previous perk.
Note: This requires Lonesome Road.

Infinite Caps Glitch

For this glitch you’re going to want to find a vendor with the same exact weapon as you, preferably your weapon should be in low condition and you should only have one in your inventory.
In this case I’m using a low condition hunting rifle and I’m selling it to the Gun Runners merchant Vendortron who has one max condition hunting rifle.
The lower the condition, the higher the profit per sell. Even with low barter you can get all of their money, it just takes longer.
You CANNOT use the same weapon twice as the condition will be reverted to max and there will be no profit to be made.

Now, to truly get infinite caps we must first get 35k caps. Rinse and repeat. Wait or sleep for 3 days (72 Hours) for the merchants caps to reset, or go to another merchant.

Once you have 35k caps you can now go to the next level and actually have infinite caps. Go to The Tops and speak with The Tops Cashier, trade your caps for chips and scroll to the bottom and do 1000 chips at a time. Do this 35 times giving yourself exactly 35k chips. The chips are located in your misc section. Drop exactly 35k(35000) chips on the ground and they should change to -30536. The exact number may be wrong, but it will resemble that negative number. Once you do that go and cash in your chips for caps. You can do this an infinite amount of times and get roughly 30k caps every time.

Infinite Ammo/Ammo Swapping Glitch

This requires a controller!
You can switch any ammo to another gun even if it doesn’t use that ammo.
You can utilize all that 9mm ammo from the infinite XP glitch.
Equip the weapon you wish to transfer the ammo from to another gun. You have to hold the Right Bumper (RB) to open the hotkey menu on the weapon and then use your Left Joystick to navigate to the Ammo section and (while holding RB still) use the D-pad and hotkey the ammo of your selected gun, in my case it’s right on the D-pad. Now equip the gun you want ammo for and press that hotkey. It should load in the ammo from the other gun into your current gun.

Reload Dashing Glitch

This glitch allows you to slingshot yourself in a direction. To do this glitch you’re going to need a . 357 Magnum Revolver or any one-by-one bullet reload animation weapon (Cowboy Repeater, Hunting Shotgun, etc) and two different ammo types that for the weapon.

Have the weapon out (Keep holding down “W” moving forward) and double tab “2” on your keyboard to switch ammunition then mash “Tab” in the middle of the animation to open your pip-boy and unequip the weapon, upon exiting it should send you flying in the direction you’re aiming.
