Maniaplanet Troubleshooting for TrackMania² Stadium

Maniaplanet Troubleshooting

Overview

I felt like writing a checklist for troubleshooting technical problems in Maniaplanet/Trackmania². If you’re having trouble when booting the game (freezes, “Errorcode 12029”, …), you might want to take advice below for possible solutions.!!! This guide is still (probably forever) WIP so if you have additional fixes, please share them below in the comment-section.

Checklist

  • Startup Freeze
If your game gets stuck on startup, showing the “checking online connection”-message -> try CLEANING or EXTENDING the game cache in the “Maniaplanet Launcher” > “configure” > “advanced” > “Peer to Peer”-Tab.
Simply click the “Clean cache”-button or enter a bigger number (Megabyte) into the “maximum cache size”-textfield.

TIP: The “peer to peer”-tab > “advanced”-button brings up a settings-panel to adjust which contents (skins, mods, tags) the game will cache to your hard drive (and which not). Consider this option when you don’t want to blow up your game cache too fast.

  • Maniaplanet servers online?
Check the Maniaplanet master servers[maniaplanet.com] status page. If one or more servers are not ‘OK’, you’d probably have to wait for Nadeos/ubisofts response.

  • HTTP Error 12 152
One of the Maniaplanet servers might be temporarily offline or under heavy load. Wait some minutes and try connecting again.

  • If you use a firewall, make sure “Maniaplanet.exe” and “svchost.exe” are NOT BLOCKED. If they are, unblock them for outbounding traffic.
For easier use i recommend firewall-tools like Binisoft firewall controll[www.binisoft.org] or Glasswire[www.glasswire.com].

  • Does your router block certain ports?
In your “Maniaplanet launcher” > “Configure” > “Advanced” check the connection ports. Default settings are:
    Server port 2350
    P2P port 3450
In your router see, if these ports are blocked.

  • IE offline mode:
If you have enabled “offline mode” in your Internet Explorer, turn it off.

  • Certificates:
OK, this is pretty rank. You might have to allow expired certificates. Due to this [link] forum post, go into your “internet settings” -> “advanced” and
    – untick “check for server certificate revocation”
    – untick “check for signatures in downloaded programs”

  • Hosts-File:
There is generally no need to scribble inside your hosts file!
IF you’ve had any other reason to add something like

into your %WINDIR%System32driversetchosts file, then DELETE these lines.
You’ll need administrative privileges for editing the file.
