Spirits Abyss Guide

Marnie's Guide for Spirits Abyss

Marnie’s Guide

Overview

I’ve been playing for a while, and I wanted to write down some of the stuff I’ve learned.

A brief rundown of lore

The spirits abyss is deep, and it grows only ever deeper. I’m here to help you get to the bottom of this eternal mystery.

The Moon Child

~ For it was believed a child cast into the Abyss under the gaze of the blood full moon may one day return… ~

You will experience this world through the eyes of The Moon Child, a youngling chosen to bring honor to their clan by returning from the Spirits Abyss. On the night of the full blood moon you were taken from your bed by your father, and found yourself thrown down the mountain the restless lands dwell within.

The Resting Realms

~ In lands long forgotten, stories told of a mountain top that lead to the gates of the Resting Realms. ~

The Resting Realms are the location upon which the game takes place. They are lands of death, and demise. From graveyards to fungal overgrowths to the perditious path of what might well be hell itself, as you venture further and further into the abyss, the land grows yet more restless with your presence, and indeed- it would seem not even hell is the end.

Gamemodes

There are 10 total gamemodes within Spirits Abyss. However for the sake of convenience I’ve separated them into groups: Quests, Miscellaneous Challenges, Abysm Challenges, & Cabins Reminisce.

Cabins Reminiscel

What could be considered the games hub world, where there are many little sidequests and secrets to keep you busy.

Quests

There are are three Quest gamemodes, Lexicanium Hunt, Restless Adventures, and Undying Pilgrimage. The Quests consist of a series of levels, culminating in an epic final boss fight.

Lexicanium Hunt

lexicanium Hunt is 4 stages long, and its final stage is ALWAYS the Blaspheme Librarium. Its Boss is Librarium Overseer.

Restless Adventures

Restless Adventures is 8 stages long. Its final two stages are ALWAYS Perditions Path. Its boss is Bastion Guardian.

Undying Pilgrimage

Undying Pilgrimage is 11 stages long. it features a guaranteed blaspheme Librarium at stage 4, remixed versions of the Overseer & Guardian, as well as a two stage final boss.

Clashful Cards

Unlock Conditions: Collect 5 cards from monsters

Clashful Cards is the strange card based minigame accompanying Spirits abyss. Nigh every monster in the game has a card to represent it, with there being 49 cards total. Most cards can be unlocked simply by playing the core gamemodes, but 7 cards MUST be unlocked through winning Clashful Cards matches.

Soul Survivor

Unlock Conditions: Beat Spookers Reckons once

Soul survivor is a roguelike wave defense minigame. Each round a horde of spooky monsters are thrown at you, and each round you survive you receive a new item. There’s an achievement for making it to 11k gold with each class, and another for making it to 33k with any class.

Cabins Reminiscel

Cabins Reminisce is your one respite from the constant combat and perpetual bloodshed of the other gamemodes. It consists of 7 areas, each featuring their own unique landmarks and potential sidequests.

  • The Mirror Room
  • The Cabin
  • The Cave
  • The Shadeless
  • Garongareeiulius IX
  • The Bonehaunted Graves
  • The Docks
The Bonehaunted Graves

A lone Bonehaunted mother makes her den beneath The Shadeless. For each of her pretty babies you rescue you’ll receive an additional starting heart.

The Docks

The most mysterious part of the Cabins Reminisce. A dock with no one there, an ocean you can’t traverse…

The Mirror Room

The Mirror Room is the first room you’ll find in Cabins Reminiscel. In it, there’s the inital Mirror used to get to Cabins Reminiscel, The Console, The Mournful Abomination, and the Reset Statue.

The Mournful Abomination
The Mournful Abomination is one of the few living beings to initally make its home within Cabins Reminiscel. It’s a poor lonely soul, looking for but one true friend. As you contract its services to retrieve the missing pieces of The Console it will gradually warm up to you, eventually calling you its “best friend”.

The Console
The Console allows you to control where the mirror will take you. The Mournful Abomination will provide you with the nodes for three parts of the console, but it’s implied there is a fourth that I’m presently unaware of how to reach.

The three parts of the console are:

  • Seed inputs (Top)
  • Run Type (Left)
  • Run Start Location (Bottom)

The Reset Statue
When embraced it will reset your progress in Cabins Reminiscel. The statue will cackle, and the screen will fill with a pink haze, returning Cabins Reminiscel to its original state.

Fun fact: Interacting with the reset statue before you have any data to reset has special dialogue!

The Cabin

~ To whoever shall stumble upon thee – I gift you my cabin, for I need it no longer. I was a fool to come. The doorway remains forever sealed, it holds no answers for me. ~

The titular cabin of Cabins Reminisce is a small shack overlooking a cliff, a warm bed in a crushing snowstorm. It was left by an unknown ancestor, and the only note they left claims “I shall embrace the Resting Realms.”, which could imply any number of Resting Characters, or perhaps they became one of the Abyss’s many bosses.

Interacting with the bed located in what could be considered the shacks second floor will allow you to change your appearance and clan within Cabins Reminiscel. By default your clan will be Alchemistro.

The Cave

The cave starts lonely at first, but as you complete side quests in the Abyss it begins to fill up. The two that decide to make it their home are The Old Fart & Miss fairy. Miss Fairy will sell you hearts for 100g a piece. The Old Fart will sell you bombs, 8 for 1k.

Miss Fairy
Miss Fairy may be a fairy, but she’s not like other girls. Miss Fairy wants to explore the world- see what’s outside the abyss. Each time you encounter her at a fairy fountain she’ll beg you for a new object to see the world with. Once you finally provide her with everything she needs she’ll make her way to Cabin’s Reminisce, and take up residence in the cave.

Unlock objects for Miss Fairy:

  1. blood map
  2. compass
  3. flute

The Old Fart
The Old Fart has found himself with an issue. A great big boulder is blocking his only way out- and no matter what he does he just can’t seem to crack it open. Each time you run into him and his blue boulder he’ll ask you for an increasingly powerful tool to finally break it down. Eventually his patience runs thin, and he asks for an absolutely absurd amount of bombs to blow himself to smithereens with, and hopefully the boulder along the way. Luckily he survives, and on the other side of the boulder he found himself in the cave, where he’ll sell you bombs.

Unlock objects for The Old Fart:

  1. bomb bag
  2. spade
  3. pick
  4. 3 bomb boxes

The Shadeless

~ So what say yee, my delectable Moon Child? The unending wealth of the undying awaits! ~
-The Shadeless

The Shadeless are likely the first being you’ll meet in Cabins Reminiscel, and as such are also some of the most important. Interacting with them for the first time grants your first Realmic node, but also the Watchful Eye, a necklace that allows you to travel easily between the mirror world and the mountain exterior. From that point onward they serve to open your ensouled artifacts with gold.

The layout of the Shadeless’s store is the same as your Grimoire Compendium, you can use this to easily determine which ensouled artifacts are which.

Garongareeiulius IX

~ These are auspicious times for you and I… together ~
-Garongareeiulius IX

Garongareeiulius IX is a guild merchant. Their work with the guild has gotten them connections all throughout the many clans, and for a small initial investment of 100,000g they’re more than willing to work with you. While before you pay them they find abode within the Mirror Room, they quickly set up shop beside the large tree upon receiving their gracious donation, where upon they set up shop selling & buying clan artifacts, as well as a unique service where they send you supplies for each floor you complete.

Each Clan artifact they sell is 5000g, and they only sell a particular selection from each clans artifact list.

Biomes

The world of Spirits abyss is large and varied, constructed from each of its twelve unique biomes. Some biomes are part of the game from the beginning, but many you’ll have to unlock through various means, such The Sullen Woods & The Ashen Palace.

Base Biomes

These are the biomes that are already unlocked

  • Haunt Burials
  • Slimes Mire
  • Fallen Sanctum
  • Blaspheme Librarium
  • Perditions Path
  • Death’s Tithe
  • Restless Realms

Unlockable Biomes

These are biomes that must be unlocked through some sort of special means

  • Frostal Fields
  • Sinners Chambers
  • Ashen Palace
  • Sanguine Mechanius
  • The Sullenwoods

Fun Fact: Although most of the achievements for unlocking new areas are grouped up on the achievement list, sullen woods is separated from the rest by numerous achievements. It’s also the last listed in the Beastiary!

Haunt Burials

Haunt Burials is the first area you’ll ever encounter in Spirits Abyss, and it would seem it was the only area for many of your Moon Child bretheren. The land here is littered with graves and restless corpses, all seemingly Moon Children who met their untimely fate. The only beings here who seem to maintain some semblance of life are the gravekeepers who tend to this place, and the bats, flying vermin that feast on the flesh of all who’ll find they’ll never move again.

Haunt Burials comes in three versions, normal, cursed, and frozen, each one with its own unique spin on the core enemy types.

Enemies:

  • Gravetender
~ Sleepy keepers debited to maintain Children of the Moon burials as they pass into resting ~

Gravetenders are a neutral enemy that remains passively asleep until struck, upon which they stand upright and let loose short bursts of projectiles. The frozen version’s projectiles do not pass through walls, and more are fired per burst. Instead of launching projectiles, the cursed version explodes like a cursed bomb upon death.

    Projectile Damage: 3

  • Zombie
~ As a soul passes into Resting its body may become a vessel of craven vengeful spirits ~

Zombies will walk passively back and forth until they see a player, upon which they will become viciously hungry and charge forward, jumping immense heights to reach any player they spot.

  • Batty
~ Swarms of blood sucking flying vermin that line crypts feasting on fallen flesh ~

Batties will sit silently on the undersides of blocks until awoken by the presence of a nearby player or until they take damage, wherein they will begin to burst forward through the air towards the player.

  • Babby Ghost
~ Interred children of the Moon who remain inconsolable may return as Restless haunts ~

Babby Ghosts do not naturally roam the caverns of Haunt Burials, instead they are summoned by your presence, and drawn to you. Especially Restless gravestones will glow with a faint pink hue, and when approached will bring fourth hordes of Babby Ghosts, enemies acting similarly to Zombies, although with less health.

  • Crypt Custodian
~ The most devoted Gravetenders may cling to their dedications after passing into the Restless ~

Crypt Custodians are ghostly apparitions which float patiently until they find a Child of the Moon, where unlike their living counterparts they appear to harbor some ghostly animosity towards you, and quickly launch one of their two attacks. Their first attack is one similar to that of the Gravetender, they launch powerful bolts that go through walls at you in a short burst, but their second attack is wholely new. With their second attack they rain powerful projectiles from the skies above that go through walls and can be destroyed by basic attacks.

Frostal Fields

Gate Puzzle: Bombing the gate will break the ice, allowing you to enter.

Frostal Fields is one of the unlockable biomes.

Sinners Chambers

Gate puzzle: Bring a key to its gates

Sinners Chambers is an unlockable biome. It features the unlock puzzle for the Shinobi.

Classes

There are many classes in spirits abyss

Minesmithers

Unlock Puzzle: In some gloomy orifices you’ll find a cave seemingly mid cave in. If you bomb downward from around the middle of the cave you’ll come across a member of clan minesmither traped beneath the rock. If you give them a healing item they pick themselves up and become a new playable class.
