Game Launch

To merge Crispy Doom with Steam, you need to rename the file “crispy-doom.exe” to “dosbox.exe” replacing the original file. After that, you need to select the game in the Steam Library → right-click → select “Properties” → in the appeared window type the launch parameter for the selected .wad file with the level number, if required, and difficulty level (I’m Too Young To Die – Nightmare!) from the list below:

-iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsATTACK.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsBLACKTWR.WAD -warp 25 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsBLOODSEA.WAD -warp 07 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsCANYON.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsCATWALK.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsCOMBINE.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsFISTULA.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsGARRISON.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsGERYON.WAD -warp 08 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsMANOR.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsMEPHISTO.WAD -warp 07 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsMINOS.WAD -warp 05 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsNESSUS.WAD -warp 07 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsPARADOX.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsSUBSPACE.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsSUBTERRA.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsTEETH.WAD -warp 31 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsTTRAP.WAD -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsVESPERAS.WAD -warp 09 -skill 1-5 -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsVIRGIL.WAD -warp 03 -skill 1-5

If Crispy Doom was not merged with Steam then the launch parameter must be type in the shortcut properties for the file “crispy-doom.exe” or in the .bat file using a text editor:
crispy-doom.exe -iwad doom2DOOM2.WAD -file masterwadsdesired_file

For the game to be displayed and sound correctly, you need to type the following in the “crispy-doom.cfg” file:

aspect_ratio_correct 2 use_libsamplerate 0

For the music in the game to be of the best quality, you need to: run the “crispy-doom-setup.exe” configuration file → select the “Configure Sound” item → in the appeared window in the “Music” section, select the “MIDI/MP3/OGG/FLAC” item.

Core features

  • Enhanced 640×400 display resolution, with the original 320×200 resolution still available in the “High Resolution Rendering: Off” mode.
  • Widescreen rendering for using all the available horizontal space of screens with aspect ratios up to 24:9.
  • Uncapped rendering framerate with interpolation and optional vertical synchronization (VSync) with the screen refresh rate.

You can also turn on a lot of gameplay (jumping and freelook, for example) and visual innovations, for this in the game you need to go to: Options → Crispness

Multiplayer

To play on a local network or the Internet, you need to run the file “crispy-doom-setup.exe” and select Join a Network Game item, then enter the required IP address, or find a server from the list by selecting the appropriate item. To create a server, you need to select Start a Network Game. If you need to add additional .wad files, then you should select the Add WADs item and enter the names of all the necessary .wad files with the path (if the file is placed in a separate folder) and extensions in each of the lines separately.
