Overview
A list of the various materials that can be salvaged, and the value received for salvaging them.
Foreword
The main goal I set for myself when writing this, was to help settle the ‘is it worth it’ debates. And the short answer to it is that it depends on the situation. From person to person, Mackerel to Mackerel, the answer will fluctuate to suit a player’s individual goals and interests. This is just here to help players make informed decisions for themselves.
What this is not, is a how to guide. I’ve gone to some lengths to ensure that I spoil as little as possible, beyond of course the existence of an object you may not have noticed before, and what ship it might be located on. That, I’ll leave in the very capable hands of other writers.
Much of this information is pre-Salvage Your Future (0.4) update. I’ve begun to add some of the new items, but the process is slow and time is limited. More to follow in the coming weeks.
Barge Salvage
Most of the values in this table have been checked over independent shifts and come out the same. I have started to take the time to get right down to the decimals on the fuel/coolant tanks, but some numbers may still be off a dollar / kg here or there. The shift report screen rounds to the nearest kg, but the actual value is calculated to at least the hundredth of a kg. Because of this, I have a little discrepancy in the values I’ve observed, but they’re very consistent and always within the range posted.
Note: I’ve confirmed the above. On screen, the game will give a popup notification: Processed Silverfish (2523.39 kg), however on the end of shift report this will be rounded down to 2523 kg. Much of my data is still based on those rounded numbers. Some are obvious enough to correct. In keeping with my example the rounding error results in 30.005 / kg, instead of 30. Others aren’t so obvious. I’m going through that content as I come across it.
Pictures are being added as I get around to it, mainly to make certain ambiguously named items more apparent. The various different version of ‘Computer Terminal’ for example.
Furnace Salvage
Miscellaneous Salvage
Leaving this as its own section. I’m hoping that as the game grows, the list of items here grows with it. Most of these items are simply picked up, however some are not.
Processor Salvage
Item Photos
A note on this section: The screenshots were taken deliberately so as to not spoil the location of the items, just to give players an idea of what to look for. I got the idea for this the first time I salvaged a silverfish. I hadn’t a clue what it was or where it came from. Discovering that all computer terminals have the same name, but different values, also prompted this. Now you don’t have to play word sharades with me in the guide, you can see a picture of what I meant.
I will likely break this up into smaller sections in the future. Items listed are alphabetical. Probably about the time when I retake photos of low res textures. Whoops.
