Overview
A quick Mechanic build with that focuses on versatility, with healing, damage and survivability. but its healing doesn’t improve as much as other builds can offer.
Tier 1 Gameplay
This Mechanic build is almost exclusively used with the Mechanic A for its Repair Kit.
Early Game items to get:
FC-31 Carabin
Repeater
Acid Sprayer
Repair Matrix (Can get dumped later)
Early game, this Mechanic build has its Repair Kit to work with, but weapons and items are a little harder to come by. The great thing about using the FC-31 Carabin is that not only does it combo extremely well with the Repeater item due to its high damage-per-shot ratio, but that its cooldown works with the Repair Kit to cause the player to heal their allies more. The Repeater works with the Acid Sprayer too, which also allows Corrosion effects to be applied. The Repair Matrix is a very good bread-and-butter Mechanic item, but it can most definitely be removed from the build in favour of an Acid Sprayer/FC-31 Carabin.
Tier 2 Gameplay
Items to look for:
FC-31 Carabin
Repeater
Acid Sprayer
Repair Kit
Repair Matrix
The same rules apply here as in Tier 1, however you are more likely to find Repeaters and other higher-tier items. One sub-build option is to actually forgo an Acid Sprayer and instead have two repeaters. This becomes less effective later on as more versatility is required, but for now a 4-shot FC-31 Carabin is daunting to face.
Tier 3 Gameplay
Items to look for:
FC-31 Carabin (Yellow ones can be obtained)
Repeater (Yellow ones can be obtained)
Other items such as the Acid Sprayer and Repair Matrix/Kit stop appearing in this tier due to the higher amount of yellow and blue items. By now, the optimum setup is a Yellow FC-31 Carabin as well as a Repair Kit, Acid Sprayer and Yellow Repeater. Combined with the later detailed upgrades and squad upgrades, the FC-31 Carabin can reach levels of 40 damage per shot with 4 shots per firing, adding up to over 100 damage from a single weapon. Double Repeater sub-builds aren’t as viable anymore, especially due to enemies such as the Assailant with higher Armour levels.
Upgrades
No, I didn’t leave upgrades out. Generally, this is the best upgrade tree:
+8 Max Hull
-5 heat on allies aura
+1-2 (can’t remember) min and max damage per turn
The first upgrade should be a no-brainer for this build. The FC-31 Carabin requires no heat, making heater class enemies less dangerous and overheat unlikely. The heat dispersion aura doesn’t seem to have an item counterpart, unlike the repair aura which is just a Repair Matrix. This makes the upgrade more valuable, especially when heat is often a bigger problem to fight than damage for other units when using this build of Mechanic. The final one is again, a no-brainer. Any sort of more damage over time mechanic I find to be hugely powerful in this game, especially on longer missions. This means that as missions get harder and longer, your Mechanic can obtain more damage per shot and the normally 0 damage Acid Sprayer can gain decent damage as well as it also receiving the effects of Repeaters.
