20XX Guide

Megaman X Mod for 20XX

Megaman X Mod

Overview

Play as X and Zero

Summary

Works for patch v1.31.1
Megaman X Mod v2.4 – Works for patch v1.31.1

Modpack based on Super Mario Kart.

I’ve included a way to prevent future 20XX updates in the Readme/Install, so you can keep using the mod pack if something breaks.

Mod Version 2.4

Features:

  • X and Zero skin for Nina and Ace, Rush skin for Dally
  • Armor capsules for character selection
  • New interface/menu
  • MMX Teleport
  • Weapon and Item visuals
  • Item stats in tooltip

Everything is a visual change and doesn’t affect core gameplay.

Readme/Install instructions

Download link: 20XX – Megaman X Mod v2.4[www.dropbox.com]

Install:
  1. From the Dropbox link, click on MMX Mod v2.4 – 20XX v1.31.1
  2. On the top right, click on Download and Direct Download
  3. Goto Steam library and open the 20XX Properties
  4. On the “LOCAL FILES” tab, click ”BROWSE LOCAL FILES…”
  5. Extract the data and img folders from the mod into this folder
  6. Ready to play!

Preventing 20XX updates:

New updates have a high chance to break certain parts of the mod.
If you disable auto update and start 20XX from a shortcut you can prevent this.

  1. Goto Steam library and open the 20XX Properties
  2. On the “Updates” tab, switch automatic updates to ”Only update this game when I launch it”
  3. On the “Local Files” tab click ”BROWSE LOCAL FILES…”
  4. Rightclick 20XX.exe and create a shortcut to your desktop
  5. Launch 20XX from this shortcut

Important: Dont use ”Create Desktop Shortcut” from the steam library, this is a weburl file that will still update the game.

Uninstall:

Open 20XX’s properties in your library and select ”Verify integrity of games files” in the local files tab.
This will restore all files back to vanilla 20XX.

Manual install:

This modpack changes a lot of things, you might not want to use everything from it.
If this is the case, the “dims.bin” file inside “/data/” might cause issues with resolution scaling to a couple of “skeleton.png” files from the modpack.
You’ll have to manually change the x/y resolution to fit your vanilla “skeleton.png” files.

The other .bin files change Nina/Ace’s names to X/Zero.
And the ”c.bin” file contains all the tooltip stat info text, with name changes only to some weapons.

The skeleton “json/atlas” files are necessary to read the image files, don’t forget to copy them if you selectivly add mods.

Custom Armorsets:

There are 4 extra files in the dropbox ”Custom Zero Armorsets” folder.
With the permanent one you can play as GBA or VerKe Zero the whole game.
VerKe BaseReplace changes the base skin to VerKe, but still changes textures on new pickup.

Rename the file you want to use to “skeleton.json” and replace it in your ”ace03” folder

Animations

Character Pods

The cloning pods MMX style, based on armor capsules.
Due to the major change the pods went through (mainly the coding), I couldn’t get the MMX animation back.

Miscellaneous

Adds detailed stat info to every augment, weapon, power and armor part.

Weapon textures

Zero’s Oxjack arm changes the saber into the triangle one from MMZ.

X’s buster fires the plasma shot.

Dash animation

Adds the dash thrust and dust kickup to both the characters.

Corpses

Playing as X or Zero and bumping into Nina and Ace corpses looked a little weird.
The mod replaces those corpses with up-scaled art from cutscenes.

Credits

LVL99 for making a very useful script that carves up the skeleton image.
It sorts every part in separate folders and saves a lot of time.

Cirom for his item guide, I used the stat info to create the tooltip mod.

Malkavia convinced me to make X after I finished Zero.
He went as far as preparing X’s artwork on all armorset for me so I had an easier time drawing the final version.

And thanks to the devs at Batterystaple.
