Mirror’s Edge: Guide to Tackling Guards

Overview

Wireduck’s Guide to defeating / tackling large amounts or individual ‘Blues’ This guide is dedicated to the singleplayer campaign of Mirror’s Edge 1. This guide will only contain information on how to easily tackle blues and nothing else. If you have any suggestions for a guide to make, please leave them in the comments box below. Thank you.

Step 1: Preperation

Step 1: Preperation

In order to defeat the Enemies more efficiently, preperation is needed. This means taking a toilet break, scratching your head and most importantly to not be intimimidated by the fast flowing music and loud gunshots.

Before you fight, make sure that you are comfortable with the commands, and that you are focused. Remember; it’s just a game!

Step 2: Approaching the Enemy

Step 2: Approaching the Enemy

If you are going to kill an enemy blue efficiently, you will need to approach them in a way that you are going to avoid getting shot at all times. My technique is to slide up to them, and kick them in the shins before disarming them which will come in the next step.

Try to jump over, slide under or go around buildings to attempt to distract them, the more confused they are the better chance you have at staying alive.

Step 3: Disarming the Enemy

Step 3: Disarming the Enemy

When disarming the enemy, you will need to go into slow motion mode by pressing R (by defaults) to get the best chance to catch the enemies gun when it turns RED. After disarming the enemy, he / she will fall to the ground unconcious and will not bother you any more. You will then have the gun to kill the remaining enemies.

Step 4: Killing of the remaining enemies & claiming Ammunition

Step 4: Killing of the remaining enemies & claiming Ammunition

When you disarm your opponent, you will need to take cover behind a building or obstacle in order to recover health (this is for a large amount of enemies as they will shoot you as you disarm one of them). After regaining 100 % health, you can come out of hiding and aim for the chest of the enemy. Since they have helmets, bullets to the head aren’t effective.

When you run out of ammo, you will need to run to the nearest gun lying on the ground (from a guard you have killed), pick it up and then sprint back to cover and repeat the steps I have mentioned already. When done with the enemies, simply dispose of the gun by pressing your right mouse button (by default). Guns slow your character down and limit your free running abilities. Only keep a gun if you really need to.
