Misao: Definitive Edition Guide

Misao [100% Achievement Guide] for Misao: Definitive Edition

Misao [100% Achievement Guide]

Overview

Hello! Here I am to give you a quick overview of all the achievements you’ll get through Misao, tips and hints to obtain all the endings in the game (I’ll point out where is possible to trigger a game over for an easier gameplay). DISCLAIMER: even if it’s an achievement guide, on the bottom of the page you can find the explanation of some events you should encounter on your playtrough. If you wanna get the achievement but want to progress in the story without knowing almost everything, just ignore them and try to figure out yourself! May contain spoilers if you’re new to this game and its story. If you have any questions or there is something wrong in the guide (probably) let me know in the comments!

My First Quicksave

That’s the really first achievement you get through the game. Just press C or Shift to make one and you’ll be respawned at your last Quicksave after a game over (it doesn’t count as a permanent save data).

Baggage Check

You have to check your inventory for the first time, both Items and Key Items are carryed here (you’ll encounter them during your playthrough). Click X to open their menu (using X to ineract with someone or something will let you use your items on them, eventually).

G-R-O-S-S!

Get in the Hall on the 1° floor. On the right side two bathrooms are placed (be careful, there’s a blood stain on the top of the wall. Interacting with it will trigger a game over). Just enter one and check a toilet, male or female doesn’t make difference (if you enter the girls’ one don’t knock on the door of the locked stall).

Repulsive

You have to summon the little Hanako to trigger this achievement (meeting her is anyway story related and can’t be missed). Take a Quicksave first and enter the girls bathroom on the 1° floor. There’s a locked stall at the end of the room, knock three times on the door and wait for a textline. Now take a few steps away and let Hanako exit the stall, she’ll try to give you a hug, avoid her and exit the bathroom (let her reach you to encounter a game over). Re-enter the bathroom and (still avoiding her) examine the toilet of the stall she came out of, and get both an item and the achievement.

For the Grub

Have a meal. Easy, isn’t it? Get again on the Hall of the 1° floor, lead down where are placed the Infirmary (right) and the Cafeteria (left), enter this one. Take a Quicksave. On the left side of the room there’s a table with an interactive meal, and you’ll be asked if you want to eat the food. Answer yes and enjoy the scene.

Spirits’ Temptation

This one scared me like hell, whatever. Lead to the left on the 1° floor over the Faculty Room and you’ll enter another Hall. Right up to you a corpse falls on the ground. Take a Quicksave, lead over him and let him grab you. What happened next wasn’t that clear to me, I guess he makes you jump off the rooftop by some kind of possession, anyway you’ll be falling down and getting the achievement (but dead).

Good Listener

Lead to the Library on the 2° floor and talk to Miss Library for the first time. She will ask you to be her friend, just accept her invitation so you’ll get the chance to talk with her again (refuse persistently her request to get a game over). Give her a name, too. Now you can trigger a conversation and ask for Hints or a Talk. Go for the Talk at least three or four times until she starts to repeat herself, that will trigger the achievement.

Memory

This one seems to be bugged, or unlockable for some reasons. Just read the Secret Diary of Maria, from Mad Father by interacting with the bookshelf (Library, 2° floor), and if you’re lucky the achievement will be triggered.
UPGRADE: the bug has been fixed!

A Work of Parody

Enter the Library (2° floor) and lead to the right upper corner to enter Miss Library’s room. Interact with the bookshelf and read “The Lazy-Eyed Ranger” to get your achievement (chosing “don’t read” will trigger a game over).

Savage

To get this one you have to reach Yoshino in the Science Room, where she’s tied up on a table. You’ll get there by passing through the Laboratory on the 2° floor, but something like a laser is placed between you and the Lab (stepping on it will trigger a game over). Follow this steps:

  • Pick up the CD-ROM on the floor, right in front of the laser (Lab).
  • Lead back to the Computer Room (3° floor).
  • Disable the security system interacting with the working pc, using your CD-ROM (increasing security system will trigger a game over) and get the access.
  • Laser is down now. Get back in the Laboratory and take a Quicksave. On the lower corner there’s the entrance to the Science Room, interact with Yoshino and she’ll ask for help, just refuse and leave her to her fate.

Hide and Seek

Well, now you have to help Yoshino in the Science Room. If you still have to get there follow the instruction for the “Savage” achievement (and take a Quicksave), then instead of refusing her request of help answer yes. Her kidnapper will be coming back so you have to hide somewhere in order to avoid getting caught. Close to the Bear there are some cardboard boxes, interact with them and hide inside one (you will trigger a game over with your achievement).

Helping Hand

Here you have to help Kudoh, a classmate of yours trapped in the Gymnasium with a broken leg. To open that door you have to obtain the Emergency Key, stucked inside a vase in the Principal’s Office (4° floor). You can’t just interact with the vase and take it, or you’ll trigger a game over because of the poisoned roses. Follow this steps:

  • Get in the 1-A classroom on the 1° floor, leading to the left from the main Hall and passing over the corpse falling from above.
  • You’re in the class now. Avoid the shadow on the floor and reach the upper side to get your Metal Bat.
  • Come back to the Principal’s Office (4° floor) and use the Metal Bat to smash the vase and get the Emercency Key (use X to interact with it).
  • Lead again on the 1° floor, this time straight to the right (over bathrooms), take a Quicksave and enter the tiny black door on the right corner.
  • A Spirit is now following you, and you have to go straight up on your way without looking at him in order to avoid a game over (don’t approach the other Spirit you’ll see).
  • Unlock the door with your Emergency Key, go up and meet with Kudoh.
  • You’ll start a conversation with him. As your last point choose between watching and helping, just try to help him to get the achievement (and a painful death).

Play the Piano

Getting this one was tricky as hell because of the Music Room located after that Loop Hall on the 2° floor. To reach the Piano you have to be in possess of some Salt, obtained by a Salt Mandrake. Follow this steps:

  • First of all you have to see all the Yoshino episode in the Science Room, I’ll leave a spoiler note below to explain how (if you still have to reach the room take a look on “Savage” achievement).
  • After hearing the Doctor murdering Yoshino from inside the Bear costume, take a Quicksave and exit the room, check then the working machine in front of you (was off before the episode).
  • Free the Salt Mandrake by interacting with the machine.
  • Read the Book about Mandrakes (Salt and Bomb) without passing near the telephone on the table (will trigger a game over) while the little Mandrake wanders around the room.
  • After your reading walk around in order to get the Salt Mandrake near the telephone (be careful), this will make her faint and let you pick her up.
  • Lead to the 1° floor, Cafeteria.
  • There’s a zombie (?) here chopping off some kind of meat on the working table, walk over him and interact with the Electric Grater nearby (thank you Tempestus0079 for this tip). Get the Salt.
  • Now you can finally get over the Loop Hall. Get here from the 2° floor and take a Quicksave.
  • Be careful, don’t walk near the windows or you’ll trigger a game over. Leading directly to the following hall will, as you’ll see, take you back, but you’ll also see a Spirit come off a window behind you. Interact with that window and put your Salt here, the Spirit wil let you pass over.
  • Take a Quicksave, enter the Music Room. The last thing left to do is obviously play the Piano right in front of you, interact with it and enjoy the scene.

Another Self

Here you have to read a certain message left in a Secret Room, in the Laboratory. To get there you have to pass through a Spirit hidden on the top of the Laboratory, which attacks you whenever you try to interact with it, stopping you to reach the Secret Room (and you die). The Spirit can be scared off, but you need a Small Key and a Chest.
Follow this steps:

    For the Small Key:

  • See the Tohma episode.
    For the Chest:

  • Reach the Music Room, 2° floor. If you don’t know how because of the Loop Hall, take a look on the “Play the Piano” achievement.
  • Take a Quicksave, then a seat. The Piano will start playing by himself, listen the song without moving or you’ll trigger a game over (by the Spirit who’s playing the Piano).
  • The Blondie one will give you something after her performance and thanks you for your time. You’ll be rewarded of a Chest.

You got everything you need now. Use the Small Key to open the Chest, there’s a Bell inside. Take a Quicksave. Go back to the Lab (2° floor) and approach the Spirit on the top of the room; the Bell will ring on her face, making the Spirit run away. Follow her in what it seems to be a Doll Room, and take a Quicksave. Interact with everything in the room (if the doll lying down opens her eyes, don’t step close to her to avoid a game over). Enter the last room, where the body of a young guy (or girl) is floating into a capsule (probably your other self as the achievement says, the one you didn’t choose at the start). Read the message on his back.

Bad Ending (Spoiler)

So, that’s one of the 3 endings avaiable (true, normal and bad). To get the Bad Ending just put your Six Key Items in the shrine (Courtyard, 1° floor) and as a last sacrifice (three graves of four should be sparkling) choose Tohma. Get back to the shrine. Someone will follow you and a scene will be triggered.

Normal Ending (1-2)

Get the Normal End with both the protagonists, Male and Female. Collect the Six Key Items and put them in the shrine. Now you have to choose the last sacrifice to heal the curse, pick up Mr. Kurata. Lead back to the shrine. Getting the Normal End will trigger the Truth.
(There’s a little difference between Male and Female protagonist at this point, the Male one event is just longer for some reasons but doesn’t have any effect on the story).

Pay Your Way

During the Truth interact with Yoshino’s grave, and trigger her event. After a couple of interaction you’ll find her surrounded by three copies of Misao, beating Yoshino to death in order to punish her and get a revenge. To stop the massacre turn around and pick up the three items hidden in the three toilets (Salt, Metal Bat and Coins). Give the Coins to one of Misao’s copies, and trigger the achievement.

Release

During the Truth, lead to the right side of the Dark Space and interact with Mr. Kurata’s grave. You’ll encounter different events and also play as him for a few scenes. You’re now the young Kurata, and everything about his cursed past is revealed. Watch until the end to get the achievement.

Precious and Special Friend (1-2)

Complete the Truth with both the protagonists, Male and Female.
You can watch all the five event of the Truth with the Tohma one as your last.
There aren’t specifical requirements or choises to take on this route, just follow events and watch everything until the end.

Yoshino’s Episode

Yoshino is a classmate of yours, trapped in the Science Room by a zombie Doctor with a chainsaw. After reaching the room (see the “Savage” achievement to get there) you can interact with her now that the Doctor isn’t around, and she’ll beg for your help. Looking back on all the things she did to Misao, you’ll make Yoshino promise to never bully someone again. While she’s acconsenting you run out of time: the Doctor is coming back. Now you have to hide somewhere to avoid getting caught. There are different spots on the room where you can hide yourself but most of them aren’t Doctor-proof, and he will catch you in any case. On the top of the room there’s an interactive locker, try to hide inside of it. You won’t fit (lol) and you’ll be asked to try harder or give up and hide somewhere else. Give up. Take what you see inside the opened locker, it’s a scalpel, approach the Bear lying on the third table and use the item to rip it and hide inside the costume (or better, his corpse). The Doctor enters the room and you can’t do anyhing but hear him murdering Yoshino and her screams. Jump out the Bear (you’ll be soaked in blood) and interact with Yoshino’s soul to trigger the final scene.

Tohma’s Episode

Tohma is another classmate of yours and all the girls in your class seem to have a crush on him. He’s dating Saotome, who encounters her end almost at the beginning. After seeing her girlfriend attacked by a Spirit (Computer’s Room), Tohma runs away. You can find him in the boys bathroom (1° floor), locked in a stall, and trembling. Knock on the door and talk to him, you’ll be leaving the bathroom together. Or not. He’ll be suddenly attacked by something, getting injured. Thinking he’d need some rest, lead to the Library (2° floor) and talk to Miss Library, she will take care of him and let him sleep in her bedroom (on the right side of the Library). Left Tohma behind, get back on the 1° floor and enter the Cafeteria. There’s a vending machine and you just picked up some Coins from your encounter with Hanako (see “Repulsive” achievement), use them to buy some tea. You’ll get some kind of Energy Drink instead, lead back to Tohma and offer him the drink. He’ll accept it, but something lies in the bottle: Tohma spills out a Small Key.
He dies on the Bad Ending, when you choose him as a last sacrifice to heal the curse. Just lead to him in Miss LIbrary’s room and hit him with the Metal Bat.

Ayaka’s Episode

Ayaka is a classmate of yours infatuated of Mr. Kurata, your teacher. After getting in the cursed dimension you’ll find her in the Faculty Room, rifling through Mr. Kurata’s desk. You’ll have another chance to meet her later when you’ll free the teacher from the locker, and they will be both on the Infirmary. Ayaka is now out of her mind, trembling, because of a monster attack; Mr. Kurata found her in shock and stayed here to keep an eye on her. He asks you to get some pills from his desk in the Faculty Room, but coming back in the Infirmary will give you a bad surprise: Ayaka is dead, Kurata injured, and you’ve got another corpse on your shoulders.
That’s what you’ll see in the Normal Ending. When the Truth is unlocked you’ll reach the Dark Space, on the right side there’s Mr. Kurata’s grave. You’ll find here the Ayaka’s hairpin, which triggers a memory. Here you’ll find out she wasn’t scared back in the Infirmary because of a monster attack, but for Mr. Kurata’s fault: she found Misao’s arms locked in his desk, he surprised her, and tried to kill her in order to keep his secret hidden. When she ran in the Infirmary, he followed Ayaka and killed her after you left the room (also injured himself to avoid suspects).

Tips

  • If you triggered the Yoshino episode before freeing Mr. Kurata from the locker (2-B classroom), you have to clean yourself from the blood first, or he’ll think you’re a monster and kill you. On the 1° floor lead to the north and enter the Courtyard, there’s a small lake with a shrine on the top. Use it to wash yourself (this will also open the shrine’s door).
  • On the 1° floor, where the exit is, there’s a pink piece of paper on the wall; all the death you’re experiencing through the game are listed here (missed ones are signed with ???).
  • When you aren’t sure about what to do, ask Miss Library for Hints. She will tell you something useful to keep on the main story.
  • If you encounter bugs on the second protagonist you’re using, like watching event you aren’t supposed to watch (to be then respawned on another place), just open the game folder and delete ALL your saving data. Restart the game from zero directly with the character you didn’t play with yet. The route won’t give you problems anymore.
  • If you wanna speedrun the game or just skip something you already watched, keep pressed Esc or Canc during dialogues.
