Modding Slime Rancher for Dummies for Slime Rancher

Modding Slime Rancher for Dummies

Overview

Just a slime rancher modding guide.

Warning Ahead of Time

Your saves might get corrupted while playing with mods. If that happens, it is not my fault. I do not provide support for the mods, so keep that in mind, and back up saves that are important ahead of time.

Overview

Modding Slime Rancher is somewhat challenging if you don’t know what to do. This guide will help with modding Slime Rancher. There are two mod types: SRML, which can be downloaded from Nexusmods.com, and need the Slime Rancher Mod Loader to function, and then there is UMF, which needs a special application to work in Slime Rancher.

Extracting the Files

You need WinRAR to extract the files.
1) Download WinRAR here: [link]
2) Right click the .zip file
3) Click “Extract files…”
4) Click “OK”
5) Wait for it to finish extracting
Then you are done. (This section was for those who don’t know how to extract files)

Adding the Mods

The mods aren’t useful if they aren’t installed and added.

1) Locate the SRML or UMF Mods folder, depending on which mod you adding. (ex: Gold Largos is a SRML mod, so if you want the mod to work, you have to put the mod folder into the SRML’s Mods folder.)
2) That’s it. There’s nothing else.

Important Note:
Do NOT rename the mod folders, else, the game won’t register any mods installed, and a new Mods folder will be created. The folder has to be named “Mods” for Slime Rancher to recognize the mods.

Notice about the guide

If a mod adds a new slime, or multiple new slimes, you’ll see this (the (slimename) is the modded slime’s name/type)

The (slimename) Slime:

Intro to SRML

SRML, or the Slime Rancher Mod Loader, is the mod loader you get from Nexusmods.com, and it has a wide amount of mods to use it with. Below is how to install SRML
1) Download the file from [link]
2) Unzip the file
3) Open the application
4) Wait for the program to install
5) Follow any steps the program gives you
6) You are done

Quicksilver Rancher (SRML)

Quicksilver Rancher is a mod that adds the ability to ranch Quicksilver Slimes.
What this mod adds:
A “Gate Hack” upgrade, so you can use your normal Vacpack in the Nimble Valley.
The ability to take Quicksilver Slimes, Quicksilver Plorts, Spark Shots, Slooooooooow Fields, Thunderclaps and Static Clingers back to your ranch. (as long as you have the Gate Hack upgrade)

This mod adds a lot, but it can be fun to use if you manage to get the Gate Hack (which is 10,000 newbucks by the way!).

Gold Largos (SRML)

Here is a mod everybody might know. The Gold Largos mod!

What this mod adds:
Gold Largos for Pink, Rock, Tabby, Phosphor, Rad, Boom, Crystal, Honey, Hunter, Puddle, Fire, Mosaic, Tangle, Dervish, Lucky, Quicksilver, Glitch(not 100% sure about that one) and Tarr
Adds Gold Largos for the following modded Slimes: Singularity, Calmed Tarr
You should be able to make gold largos out of any modded slime

Tarr Rancher (SRML)

Use some Slimy Soulution to turn foes into semi-friends! I’m talking about turning Tarr into Calmed Tarr easily!

What this mod adds:
Slimy Soulution
Calmed Tarr

You get Slimy Soultion by putting a pump on areas like the ring island, or the bit connecting the Moss Blanket and the Dry Reef. It will take a few tries, so try and put 3 Abysmal Pumps on the area connecting the Moss Blanket and the Dry Reef. Once you feed a Tarr (gold or not) a Slimy Soultution, it will become a Calmed Tarr, and you’ll be able to create a Tarr that doesn’t decay from hunger, can’t be killed by water, and doesn’t target ranchers (they still attack you if you get too close).

The Calmed Tarr Slime:
–Size–
⚪Small
⚪Normal
⚫Largo
⚪Big

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚪Veggies
⚫Chickens
⚫Misc. (Slimes)

–Other Info–
🔴Splashing it with water causes it to stop producing plorts.
🔴A player who touches a Calmed Tarr takes damage.
🟢They don’t decay from hunger

Shadow Slimes, Lucky Plorts, and Vaccable Crates (SRML)

All 3 of these mods were published recently (as of 12/31/20). This section will go over all 3 of these mods.

Shadow Slimes adds a new slime type; the Shadow Slime. The Shadow Slime is formed by leaving a Phosphor Rad Largo out in the sunlight, or, leaving a Phosphor Rad Largo to bake in the sun, which ever one you like to use. Shadow Slimes are a red-black vertical gradient, but watch out, because they hurt on touch, and they can grow up to 3x their size upon being agitated! Shadow Slimes eat hens, and have no favorite food.

Lucky Plorts adds a feature where if a Lucky Slime eats a Stony Hen, the Lucky Slime will not get launched up into the air, and will make 2 Lucky Plorts. That’s it.

Vaccable Crates is the simples mod out of the 3, allowing you to vac up crates. There are 2 unique graphics in the mod, 1 for the Party Crate and 1 for every other crate.

The Shadow Slime:
–Size–
⚪Small
⚫Normal
⚪Largo
⚫Big (only when they are hungry)

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚪Veggies
⚫Chickens
⚪Misc.

–Other Info–
🔴They become 3x their size when they are hungry

Vaccable Toys (SRML)

This got published just earlier as of me editing this guide on 12/31/2020. This mod allows you to vac up Slime Toys. There’s nothing else to say other than there are a bunch of new graphics for every Slime Toy.

Slime Collection #1 (SRML)

This mod adds 3 new slime types: the Ruby Slime, which is a small slime that turns back into a Boom Slime upon being touched by a player, the Unstable Slime, which could turn into a Tarr Slime at any moment, and the Ruins Slime, which, in a nutshell, is a resource generator.

The Ruby Slime:
–Size–
⚫Small
⚪Normal
⚪Largo
⚪Big

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚫Veggies
⚪Chickens
⚪Misc.

–Other Info–
🔴Turns back into a Boom Slime upon being touched

The Unstable Slime:
–Size–
⚪Small
⚫Normal
⚪Largo
⚪Big

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚪Veggies
⚪Chickens
⚫Misc. (Unstable Shards)

–Other Info–
🔴Could turn into a Tarr Slime at any moment if unfed.

The Ruins Slime:
–Size–
⚪Small
⚫Normal
⚪Largo
⚪Big

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚫Veggies
⚪Chickens
⚪Misc.

–Other Info–
🟢Instead of producing plorts, it produces resources

Salty Slimes (SRML)

Salty Slimes are a new slime that are made when a Pink Slime eats a Deep Brine. They eat Puddle Plorts and may or may not hurrass Puddle Slimes.

The Salty Slime:
–Size–
⚫Small
⚪Normal
⚪Largo
⚪Big

–Diet–
⚪Fruit
⚪Veggies
⚪Chickens
⚫Misc. (Puddle Plorts)

–Other Info–
🔴They hurrass Puddle Slimes
🟢They always produce 2 Salty Plorts upon eating a Puddle Plort
🟢They can eat lots of Puddle Plorts in one sitting.

Intro to UMF

Those SRML mods are great and all, but these mods do much more.

How to install UMF
1) Download the UMF Framework here: [link]
2) Make sure to choose the Slime Rancher folder when you get the chance
3) Wait for it to install
4) Done!

Cheat Menu Mod (UMF)

Give yourself anything, change anything in your Auto-Feeders, Plort Collectors, and Silos to store ANYTHING!

This mod just adds a cheat menu, so you can no clip, be able to refresh your Drones with debug spray (it works I’ve done it a lot), put 300 Dervish Slimes in your silos to feed your Calmed Tarr or for a gigantic bloodbath of slimes, or give yourself 4 slots of 100 gold plorts so you can make
S T O N K S.

The End

That’s it! That is how to install UMF and SRML, and some cool mods to try! Again, if your saves get corrupted, that is not my fault, and go complain to the mod makers.
