Don’t Starve: Let’s Play/Tutorial
This series plays through the survival mode with Wilson the default character. The goal is to set up a great shelter with heaps of resources (oh and not starve of course!)

Tips and Tricks!
This section is full of awesome tips and tricks that you can take and use to make your gameplay super smooth and stylish! If you want your tips added just leave them in the comments below and I will add them to the guide (giving credit to you of course!)
– press space to pick-up/use the item in your hand
– don’t kill rabbits until you’re ready to eat them (they won’t spoil that way)
– make your base near Beefalos (easy manure)
– plant Pine Cones to make a TreeGuard stop chasing you

Black Knife | γγ©γγ―γγ€γ: Be Prepared! Hounds can spawn early on in the game, make sure you have a weapon and Log Suit ready to defend yourself! Thanks Black Knife!
Dummuc (Getting Skill): Be careful about cutting down too many trees! It can summon a TreeGuard which has high health and damage. Thanks Dummuc!
RatherUncreativeName: If you can get a Treeguard to lose aggro in your base (by planting cones) it will become a target for hounds during an attack if you can shake their aggro. A good defensive tree! π Thanks RatherUncreativeName!
DELTΞ-V: Don’t shave Wilson’s beard until after the first Winter as it has high insulation and can keep you warm! In Reign of Giants shave off his beard at the start of Summer as you can overheat! Thanks DELTΞ-V!
1+1=ξ: Can spawn from day 7 onwards in sandbox mode (according to wiki) so it’s good to be ready for them! Log suit and Spear recommended! π Thanks 1+1=ξ!
Icymushroom: Use CTRL+F to auto-attack neutral mobs (butterflies). When eaten, butterfly wings will restore 9 hunger and 8 health. Try to kill them when they’re on flowers. Be careful not to kill too many butterflies, or Krampus will spawn. You can also use butterfly wings to cook a butterfly muffin, which restores 37 hunger, 20 health, and 5 sanity. Thanks Icemushroom!
Nightmare Fox:
– It’s good to live near Beefalo but not too close! Hounds can aggro onto them and can kill off a lot of the Beefalo if you’re not careful!
– Shaving Wilson’s beard boosts sanity
– Get Nightmare Fuel/Beard Hair early by capturing rabbits and then go insane (jump through wormholes!) Rabbits turn into Beardlings and don’t run
– Kill the Koalefant by kiting it, attack 5 times, dodge, repeat.
– Meatball recipe = monstermeat+morsel+berries+carrots (we should do a cooking section!)
– Easy Gold = dry meat into jerky, Pig King will give 1 gold for each piece of jerky!
– if you give a fruit to a bird it will give you 1-2 seeds of that fruit and i think a 50% chance to drop a normal seed
– 3 red musshrooms kill a gobbler (those turkey things that eat berries)
– in RoG you can farm rocks by constanly digging up mole holes and they will make another one
– a good way to kill the McTusks without them going agro on you is you leave tooth traps behind where you walk and they will step on them
– a nice way to get bee items like stingers and honey is to hit the bee nest and make the killer bees come after you and you walk through a herd of beefalo until the bees stop following you.. when they go back the will sometimes attack the beefalos
– if you give a fruit to a bird it will give you 1-2 seeds of that fruit and a 50% chance to drop a normal seed

Characters
The different character’s in Don’t Starve each bring a unique playstyle to the game and offer different perks. This section will give a brief intro to each and how they can be useful in the game!
Wilson
What’s he do?
– grows a beard: can be shaved to get ‘Beard Hair.’ At it’s full length it can provide protection from the cold during Winter.
4 days growth = 1 beard hair, 7 days growth = 3 beard hair, 15 days growth = 9 beard hair
Wilson is the first character you’ll play as. He doesn’t have any real negative attributes and his beard has multiple uses!

(Food) Crock Pot Recipes
The Crock Pot
This handy item requires 3 cut stone, 6 charcoal, and 6 twigs and requires a Science Machine to craft!
You can put random items in it and after time you’ll get a food item in return!

This means you can use any filler item to fill up the slot, beware as some recipes won’t work if you use certain types of filler!

Nightmare Fox:
honey ham: meat+honey+filler+filler +30 health +75 hunger and +5 sanity
honey nuggets: morsal+honey+filler+filler +20 health +37 hunger and +5 sanity
meaty stew: meat+meat+meat+any other meat +12 health +150 hunger and +5 sanity
dragon pie: dragon fruit+filler+filler+filler +40 health +75 hunger and +5 sanity
meatballs: any meat+filler+filler+filler +3 health +62 hunger and +5 sanity

Winter Advice
When Winter starts in your world there are some major gameplay changes that you need to deal with! Here are some tips (some of them from other users) to help survive the Winter event!
Thermal Stone
What’s it do?
It heats up when you’re standing near a fire. Journeying away from your fire the Thermal Stone will keep you warm (when otherwise you’d be freezing!) The stone visibly changes from white to orange as it warms up and back again as it uses it’s heat. Very useful and cheap to make.
Crafting: 10 stone, 1 Pickaxe, 3 Flint
Nightmare Fox:
– always have your fire running so if you need to run back to heat up your heat stone or keep warm is you need to
– spend alot of your time cutting trees and catching rabbits
– make a thermal stone as early on as possible
– as wilson don’t shave your beard until the end of winter
– try not to stray far away from your base unless you are in early winter
– try to use the crock pot as much as possible to maximise the amount of hunger you get back
– only use the drying rack for making jerky and not for monster meat to give to the pig king
– during early winter give as much as you can to the pig king so you don’t run out of tools during winter (golden tools have 4x the durability!)
– have plenty of grass for and twigs so you can sleep and make traps
– don’t take on the McTusks unless you have a nice amount of tooth traps or some beefy gear
– watch out for ice hounds!
– use spikey bushes for twigs and to get the twigs without hurting yourself use a shovel
