New Players Guide: Things I wish I knew when I started
Souls
You probably already know this, but you collect souls all over the place while you play. They look like flying skulls with swirly energy stuff around them and trailing them to their destination (You).
Green = Health
Blue = Money
Yellow = Wrath (used for special moves)
Smaller enemies typically only drop blue souls, and bigger enemies will drop a mix of souls.
But did you know that certain enemies drop green souls if you kill them in a certain way? If you just kill the Wicked (zombies) normally, they will drop a few blue souls, but if you kill them by pressing E (or B if you're using an xbox controller) for an insta-kill they will drop a few green souls and less blue souls instead.
I've noticed the same thing happens with other enemies and it seems to be specifically enemies you can insta-kill. I.E. you can't kill a Minion (demon dog thing you fight in the begining of the game) using an E move until you stun it first (you know.. A stun-kill >.>), but the Duskwing (the giant bats) can be killed without ever hurting it first if you jump near it and press E for a insta-kill, and if you do that it will drop green souls instead of just blue souls. These insta-kills look just as cool as the stun-kills, and they're way more effecient because you don't have to smack them around first like you do with the stun-kills.

Environment
- Explore EVERYTHING!
You probably already know to do this, especially if you play a lot of open world games, but explore everywhere and everything to find secrets and upgrades for War. - Speaking of upgrades!
The chests laying around the map give clues as to what are inside. I'm sure you've probably already made the connection that blue chests contain blue souls, ect, but did you notice that some chests have black stuff swirling around them?
That black stuff signifies that the chest has a shard inside it, so if you're full on health but see a green chest, make sure it doesn't have those black swirls around it before you just skip over it.

Many objects within the environment contain blue souls, destroy the objects to collect that money!
Honestly, I feel like this is probably just a waste of time unless you're in the early game or just really close to buying the next thing from the vender Vulgrim. Theirs an upgrade you get pretty early in the game called Ravager. It allows you to make more money from breaking things in the environment as well as do more damage with environmental attacks. The upgrade makes this a slightly more viable way to make money, but it's still kind of just a waste of time. You get enough money from just killing enemies. - Pay attention during cutscenes!
You might see a chest you didn't notice before hiding in the background. - Finding Vulgrim!
Vulgrim is pretty easy to find throughout the game, but sometimes he's a little more off the beaten path. Sometimes you'll see a pathway or cave with these weird silver chain ornaments with a blue glow hanging from the ceilings. Follow these to find Vulgrim.

Weapons
War's sword, Chaoseater, is pretty cool, but I'm pretty sure I'd get bored and quit the game if that were the only weapon I used.
My only advice here is to not ignore the secondary weapons in the game, they make things much more fun and interesting, and they can change up your play style a little bit too. Save up and buy the scythe from Vulgrim as soon as possible.

Master of War: Combat Tips
- Environmental attacks don't really do much damage but they can come in handy.
- Don't ignore the little peons that you can insta-kill. Use them to your advantage. I mentioned earlier in the guide that when you insta-kill a small enemy you can get a small amount of green souls, use that to your advantage to slowly fill your health bar in combat, but don't let them sneak up on you because they still do damage and stagger you.
- Too many little guys on your screen at once? Use the scythe. It's not very powerful but it's fast and it can get rid of the puny little guys like the Wicked really quickly.
- Don't forget to talk to Vulgrim often to buy new stuff or upgrades. If you start getting bored witht the combat see if you can buy a new move and intagrate it into your combo's.
- When you use a stun-kill or an insta-kill other enemies will back away from you. Use this to your advantage if you start to get swarmed. Also, sometimes you can hit another enemy and deal damage while doing one of these moves if they are close enough, but they tend to back away pretty quickly when doing one of these attacks.
