Nugget Node Identification for Hatchlings for Trials of Ascension: Exile

Nugget Node Identification for Hatchlings

Overview

This is a handy guide for identifying what a nugget node looks like since dragons need nuggets to molt. It has several pictures of what a nugget node looks like to dragons.

Introduction

Playing a dragon in Trials of Ascension: Exile is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of the game. You start as a weak hatchling, about the size of a large lizard, and grow in size and power: from hatchling to young, then young to juvenile. As the game continues development in early access, the development team plans to add three more stages of dragon growth: adolescent, adult, and ancient.

But how, you might ask, does one actually get their dragon to grow to the next stage? You must consume nuggets of precious metals – copper, silver, and gold. NOTE – when you find a nugget node, you must choose the option to “Consume nuggets for molting.” If you harvest the nuggets, you will be able to eat them from your inventory, but they will fill your breath sac instead of your molt meter. The breath sac is another fascinating dragon feature, but that is outside the scope of this guide. This guide will tell you how to identify those nugget nodes!

Finding Nuggets in Daylight

Nugget nodes look a lot like a heat haze over a hot surface, and they are hardest to find during the day. The easiest way to spot them is to keep an eye on the crest of hills and watch for blurry spots. See if you can identify the nugget node in the picture below (click the pictures to see the full size view):

In case you can’t see it, it’s just about in the top center of the image, making half of the tree blurry.

In the next picture, we’re getting closer to the node, and the sparkly effect that accompanies the blur becomes more evident:

Finally, when you are right up to the node, the blur will fill almost your whole field of view (watch out for predators attacking from the other side of the blur while in this vulnerable position!). Stick your head in there and interact with the ground to “Harvest” the nuggets, or “Consume for molting”.

Next we’ll take a look at finding nuggets at night.

Finding Nuggets at Night

Nugget nodes are much easier to spot at night, due to the yellow glow that accompanies them. See below for an example of a node glowing in the darkness of night:

Here is what the nugget node looks like using the dragon’s night vision at night. As you can see, this is the easiest time to spot nuggets!

I hope this guide helps all new dragons find the treasure they are looking for, and I wish you all the best of luck with growing your dragon to its full potential.
