Overview
This is a mod list primarily designed to give a mage oriented character a better experience in game and easily adds hundreds of hours (or thousands depending on how you play) of extra game time. Some make magic more fun. It also extends various aspects of the original mages guild quests and offers quests after you become arch-mage as well. Some mods are fairly large quest mods while others offer weapons, clothes, companions and even house mods. All mods below should be compatible with one another, as I’ve personally used them all in my load order. enjoy! Note: Follow each mod’s guide to the tee or else you might run into issues or things may not show up in game. While my guide may be best suited to a mage character, any class can play some mods with no problem. This guide assumes you already have knowledge of how to mod your game, but if not then there should be many guides to help you get your game ready for mods.

Note: I use this mod primarily because mangekyo and kamui are very overpowered spells and pretty fun to use in combat lol.
Bobo’s Summoned Chest[www.nexusmods.com]
Teaches the player a Lesser Power called Summon chest. With this power, the player can summon to their position (in any interior or exterior cell) their own personal storage chest. Very useful should you happen to be half-way through a dungeon, and are at the limits of your encumbrance. Simply summon your chest, fill it with the items you like, and send it away. You can re-summon the chest at any time and retrieve any items you’ve ever placed inside for use or sale. Note: Midas magic also has a similar spell, but it doesn’t give it to you right away. with this mod, you will have a summonable chest very early on.
The Killing Moon[www.nexusmods.com]
Engetsu Sappou – A powerful spell similar to a kamehameha wave lol.

Devil May Cry Combat V2 Legal Version[www.nexusmods.com]

Note: Msg me for the version seen in the video below.

Dimensional Pockets[www.nexusmods.com]
Gives a spell called Dimensional Pocket to summon a portal. Going through the portal opens a selection window where you can select where you would like to go. Either the Hub or one of the Dimensions within it are selectable. Note: players can add more dimensions themselves if they download Lemunde’s pocket dimension mods (such as the Rift or the Nether). Each of his mods adds a book that leads to very well-designed player homes in other worlds, so the books can just be dropped or stored in The Hub, allowing the player to have a complete collection of every pocket dimension available.
Legend in the Sky[www.nexusmods.com]
Legend in the Sky (Sky Castle), creates a new player home in the sky. In order to obtain this house you will need to complete a quest. The quest begins after you purchase (or steal) “Sky Castle” from the First Edition. Sky Castle contains a riddle that details locations which will then lead you to the actual Castle. At the end of the quest you will recieve a new armor along with the castle. Note: Theryon is very similar (They are both sky castles) so you can opt to choose one over the other, or if you’re like me use both.
Clothing, Accessories and Weapon Mods

Animated Staves[www.nexusmods.com]
Adds 6 animated and 1 non-animated staves to Rindir’s Store Inventory.
Staff Animation[www.nexusmods.com]
Staff animation to look more like a wizard. Note: The animation is copied from sheogaroth’s staff animation so staves will clip through your hand. Still, its close enough to how a typical mage will hold a staff vs. oblivion’s vanilla version in my opinion.
Mastery of the Air[www.nexusmods.com]
This mod adds two rings that give you the power of flying with your followers. But you are not alone. Others may dispute you the Mastery in the Airs.
Aion Polaris Staff[www.4shared.com]

Note: I highly recommend origin of the mages guild and the elder council mods, but all of giskards mods work well together and were meant to be used at the same time.
Adash – City of Magic[www.nexusmods.com]
Adash, city of magic, is a place beyond the boundaries of Cyrodiil and Tamriel at far west end of the sea. A Place with his own history, his own culture and his own conflicts. For several months the fragile peace between the Five Circles threatens to find an end and in these days the Oracle of Mandakar speaks about the arrival of a stranger…

A supernatural action horror quest for “The Elder Scolls IV – Oblivion”.The player will have to deal with an ancient twisted evil, well hidden in the ages, through a journey in time and space and the hellish kingdom of the “Cursed Ones”.
Gates to Aesgaard Ep. 2[www.nexusmods.com]
Pain, the secret face of pleasure. Pleasure, a dark rose at the edge of pain. Together, as the everlasting flames that burn the soul of a true-loving heart, they sculptured the fifth element; the essence that the gods and the demons are made of.
The Mortal Coil (Fall of the Aylieds)[www.nexusmods.com]
Terrifyingly powerful Ayleid sorcerer king Tyras spells doom for the remaining Ayleid kingdoms of the underworld in Cyrodiil. Embark on an epic quest with the whimsical warrior Valamoor to the ancient city of Avalon to slay the tyrant. But beware, for nothing is as it seems. Along the way, you will be faced with magic like you’ve never thought possible, and at the end of it all, choices you never thought you would have to make. Fall of the Ayleids is a look into betrayal, power, and choice—which we always have. And, of course…love.
Graphics Overhaul and Giskards CUO/Better Cities Compatibility
Bevilex Modlist for Oblivion – Graphics[www.nexusmods.com]
modlist with installation order and instructions to completely remaster Oblivion’s graphics.
Better Cities[www.nexusmods.com]
Better Cities overhauls and enhances all the cities from the original game adding new buildings, new NPCs, and new quests. Several separate mods by various people have been integrated into Better Cities.
Note: Bevilex may already have this mod in his guide, but I put it here anyway. Also, you will have to choose between Giskard’s Cyrodiil upgrade overhaul cities or Better Cities.
Giskard’s CUO edits Bruma, Leyawiin, Bravil and Chorral. Giskards Kvatch aftermath and Kvatch rising (the Kvatch mod I recommend) edits the city of Kvatch. Giskard’s Origin of the Mages Guild edits The arcane university and Giskard’s The Elder Council edits the Imperial City temple district. What I did however, was choose to use all of Giskard’s CUO cities and Better Cities Cheydinhal and Anvil seeing as Giskard has not touched those two cities. I also chose to use Kvatch Rising as that mod simply adds so much unique things.
As far as the Imperial City is concerned, Giskard only edited one district so there weren’t many compatibility issues, but if there is an option in the better cities installer to leave the temple district untouched, you should opt for that choice so you can use Giskard’s The Elder Council without problems. I also chose to use Better Cities Arcane University, since Giskard’s Origin of the Mages Guild has very little compatibility issues with Better Cities Arcane University. The only real issue I found between those two mods is the large stone wall separating the entrance of the university with the inner area. Giskard’s mod removes the wall in a later quest, while better cities leaves the wall standing.
It’s your choice which cities mod you want to use, but my explanation allows you to use the best of both city mods while still maintaining compatibility between them. The main difference between both cities mods is that Giskard’s CUO cities are strictly lore friendly, which is a good thing if you love the lore of Oblivion. Better cities is just what it says; better cities, and aims to make cities larger and more grandiose.
Enjoy
I hope you enjoy my ultimate mage oriented mod list that will surely immerse you in a world of magic. Whether you want powerful new spells, epic journeys, strong new companions to share your epic journeys with, an awesome floating castle to look upon the mortals beneath you or even a flying dragon mount, then there’s enough here for you to enjoy oblivion as a spell caster for quite some time and give you the feeling you always longed for as a magician…
