Overview
This strategy allows you to keep pushing with Gnaw without him having to go back for more health. Many people already know and use this strat, but I see tons of new players struggling with Gnaw, and plan to try to advertise this strategy.NOTICE: This WAS referenced in several other guides, but I feel like these guides aren’t as popular as they should be. I will leave a link to a guide showing this strategy in depth.
Introduction
This guide is going to be a short one, as this strategy was already shown in depth. Instead of just making a detailed summary of this strategy, this guide will have the basics of it and tips you can use with this strategy.

***EDIT!! PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING!:
This strategy is dickish to your teammates, yeah, I get it. As I will mention later in the guide, you should ask anyone if this strategy is annoying anyone. If anyone says they are, stop using this strategy. I do appreciate criticism, but it’s a bit annoying to see that people are commenting literally the same thing (“This is a strategy that sucks becuz it screws over your team!”)
ANOTHER EDIT:
Yeah, dont do this strategy with Penny. It ruins her easy access for free charges.
Basics
In every map, there is a “jungle” that droids can’t access. These “jungles” have creeps that have 12 health and grant you 25-30 health and 3 solar if slain (aside from the solar boss, who gives you full health and 30 solar). These creeps respawn every 20 seconds. Also, it is important to be noted that the healthpacks that drop from the creeps fly towards you no matter where you are on the map.

With this, you can exploit Gnaw by placing Weedlings near the creeps. Every 20 seconds, the creeps will respawn and be killed by the weedlings, and the healthpacks will fly towards you, giving you health as you bite off peoples’ heads.
This strategy is really effective, especially when pushing as Gnaw. Gnaw takes lots of damage, as his range is extremely limited with the only ranged attack being Acid Spit.
Tips and Tricks
- This strategy works best on Sorona, as each side of the map has their own little jungle near their base. This noted, less enemy players would go to your side for health because they would stay away from the danger if they really have low health. Also, you can even put weedlings at the enemys’ jungle with a low chance of the weedlings dying. This is because if the enemy had low health, they would most likely teleport or walk to their actual base instead of having to take the time to kill creeps and regen only half their health.
- This strategy makes it seems like Gnaw is losing his ability to defend with his weedlings, as the weedlings are being used to kill creeps. However, this is not the case. You should NOT put all of your weedlings near the creeps. You only really need 2, or in some rare cases 3. In Sorona, you really only need one weedling to take care of a jungle. For healing, it’s actually worse to put a lot of weedlings at a jungle. This is because the creeps will die too quickly, and you will get all of the health at once instead of every 10-20 seconds like you are supposed to. This seems better, but it really isn’t considering you’ll probably get the health when you dont even need it. Every 10-20 seconds is better because if you have low health and are being chased by an enemy, the enemy will try to hunt you down to try and finish the kill, but wont notice that you are slowly regening health. While the player is chasing you, you can deal DoT and regen while you are being chased. When you have much more health than the other enemy, you can do a counter-attack.
So, pretty much, you only need 1 or 2 weedlings to regenerate health. All other weedlings can be used to defend.
- This strategy may be very annoying for your allies, as it seems like you are stealing all of the health packs. It is recommended that you ask if this strategy is annoying anyone on your team, just for the sake of not being douchy (as Gnaw is already known to steal peoples’ kills with his DoT and generally be, well, a douche).
- I’ve seen people do this strategy and barely check up on the weedlings. ALWAYS CHECK ON THE WEEDLINGS! Make sure you didn’t put too many weedlings to defend, or else some of the regening weedlings will dissapear, and also make sure no enemies killed your weedlings! The main problem with checking up on the weedlings is timing. When should I check up on my weedlings if i’m going full on pusher? Personally, I recommend you should when you respawn or when the enemy team is pushing full-on.
Conclusion
This strategy is very effective in all situations- even when you’re defending. The only main problem with this strategy is that your allies will probably hate you for stealing all of the health. But, if your allies are okay with this, this strategy is highly recommended for Gnaw.
