Overview
A battle group scenario and commemoration of D Day with one of the first engagements of that massive operation that marked the first Allied ground military casualty’s of Overlord and the beginning of the long and bloody Liberation of Western Europe. Stealth is kinda necessary for this setup, and i designed them both together with new special plane settings etc but as BG export you can do whatever with it.Updated for D Day DLC only access (Back to War still best but now optional) and projected the scenario to a what if – A what if someone actually woke up the boss and the Panzer’s did react. (oops spoiler)*This was the Kobayashi Maru training exercise for the The Thin Red Line Mod – now its still here the mod is not a sort of half version of it is around but any reference to Thin Red Line and Low flying planes or the DR are out of date
The Briefing
Operation Dead Stick, also known as Operation Coup de Main
On the night of 5 June 1944, a force of 181 men, led by Major John Howard, took off from RAF Tarrant Rushton in Dorset, southern England in six Horsa gliders to capture Pegasus Bridge, and also “Horsa Bridge”, a few hundred yards to the east, over the Orne River. The force was composed of D Company (reinforced with two platoons of B Company), 2nd Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry; 20 sappers of the Royal Engineers of 249 Field Company (Airborne); and men of the Glider Pilot Regiment. The object of this action was to prevent German armour from crossing the bridges and attacking the eastern flank of the landings at Sword Beach.
This is a do it yourself scenario a preset BG export and map guide to recreate this event.
As a BG group export it requires back to war and D Day sorry but that’s where they were, plus its good dlc. Its just a copy and paste scenario so It can be played Vanilla or with any mod. Of course we don’t have Pegasus bridge exactly but we have the actual forces that were there. Plus a bit of imagination.
Scenario is Assault – longest timer, lowest possible income (i use a mod for 0,25 but 0.5 should be fine) – I designed a mod for these kinda things slows it down and has .25 income but what ever pple want
Players have 3 Glider and Parachute Airborne companies from D Company 6th Airborne the fourth player can be AI or human and run Baron Lovet and the Commando Reinforcements who arrive late to the party.
You will have no Armour at all in A and forward Recon and Armoured elements of Lord Lovat’s No. 4 Commando – 1st Special Service Brigade will begin to arrive from B on, these assets will be shared a bit.
Your mission is to scout and neutralise enemy AA so as to use the overwhelming air assets at hand to clear clear the way and to take and hold the bridges against any Axis Counter attack.
Lord Lovat’s has forward spotters and recon the Special Service Brigade and is elements followed by a mixed force of 1st Commando, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, and the 6th Regiment of Foot – played by the Scotts in this case as they had similar disposition
Phase B and C other players get access to some ‘6th Regiment’ style assets – ie AC, tanks, and anything that didnt fit in a Horsa. (i was not going to give trucks but seemed bit harsh)
Its shanks as ponies for almost all in phase A now – No Transport.

How to set it up
The scenario is designed for solo and co-op as a dismounted Infantry Only force for A, something a bit different. At present a few medium tanks are avail in B and the Baron if he is 1st Commando bring the Funnies Churchill’s but mainly lighter recon for others. C well no worries you will be in a french pub by then.
– anything that don’t fit in a jeep in A is walking and the few jeeps that landed go to the heavy stuff. You have some utility jeeps but all choices what to spend on
D Company of the 2 Brigade are the advanced Vanguard of 6th Paras that landed by Horsa Glider comprising 3 Company’s to clear and seize the bridges over the River Orne and hold against any counter attack that may threaten Sword Beach heads Flank – anything that don’t fit in a glider or can chucked outa a plane in A is walking and the few jeeps that landed go to the heavy stuff. You have some utility jeeps but all choices what to spend on
Supported by Baron Lovat’s small Commando detachment that will begin to roll in B and C with a armour that will be shared between commands.

Relief arrives to the sound of Bagpipes with the gradual arrival of Lord Lovat, (popularly know as the Baron) and his No. 4 Commando – 1st Special Service Brigade as well as elements of Royal Warwickshire Regiment followed by the 185th Infantry Brigade and 3rd Infantry Division as they disembark from Sword. Most these force are in the Barons deck but a mix goes to all players.
These forces will arrive as recon and limited armour in B and Full pelt by C, All allied groups have strong air tabs but only limited fighter support was available due to operational demands, bomber command has assured GHQ that the nearby Airfield is has received severe damage an is unlikely to pose a threat.
– Allies have strong Air but numerous 88’s have been seen in the area. Whilst a reports of damgae to the nearby airfield are rumoured to be exaggerated
– Allies have no Armour no transport in phase A – and limited AT as it carted from landing zone.
D company has done their London best and nabbed a PaK40 that may prove handy, but its a long walk from the drop zone.
All players have a bit of Armour in C (sharing command of the Commando and Sword forces)

If you want to tweak the difficulty easiest way is changing Income types of the Battle Groups – i have them all setup on different ‘personalities’ but if it smashing you or to easy ^^ feel free to start there.
Of course free change whatever but if following the TRL Kobayashi Maru i tried keeping to income types and swapping air assets around to see whats possible, beat it on Krapa in test game, Bobr bit Harder not yet but the ai is (allies) actually do better dismounted at start.
*As BG exports all you need is the D Day DLC and if have Back to war can play the Scotts if not i made a D Day DLC stand in for the Baron and his relief column of Commandos.
– Setup if your using a mod is for 0.25 or 0.5 income (cash went down a little last mod update) The Staring Income mix the choice is yours if you start high so do the defenders.
– Time is set in mod to 2x per phase ( time in lobby font do anything now i think) and slower bleed you will need +50% flags to push back the enemy morale
Seems 5th Batt boys must have skipped the recon by fire tutorial – one of the reason for taking away them trucks
My small blurb
Basically to make these A symmetrical scenarios i found i needed to rejig SD2 for a bit for a slower stealthier game, slow being good for old school geezars like me.
The fruits be they ripe or rotten of my labours are below but not necessary for any of my BG Scenarios but they were designed and balanced in its slightly different mood.
2 Difficulty stealth time mod thing – slower more stealth with some tweaks for tactical trickery, slower bleed and lower income some ai tweaks and even some RAF proto types (mosquito lads volunteered)
Assault – More difficult for attacker in Break Thru (use this for Red Devils Allies)
