Overview
This is a definitive guide on each character in Peggle, ranking them from best to worst.
Introduction
This is a definitive guide on each character in Peggle, ranking them from best to worst. Keep in mind that this guide is only my informed opinion from my experience with playing the game, it is highly subject to change and in no way should be considered official. This guide currently only looks at characters in terms of which can attain the highest scores, and does not focus on which characters are best at clearing levels (perhaps will be updated later). One last thing to keep in mind is that each character is not universal to every level, some will have advantages over others based on the design of the level and the layout of the pegs. Below is a table of the order I have ranked the characters in, and in each section is a more detailed guide on each character.
1. Renfield (Spooky Ball)
Renfield is without a doubt a powerful character, as Spooky Ball has massive potential at racking up points. The reason that Spooky Ball is placest the highest in terms of score potential is because not only does a Spooky Ball clear many pegs, it almost always guarantees a free ball from the large amount of points you attain from it. This gives Spooky Ball massive value for its worth and puts it above the rest. Spooky Ball is best used at the beginning of matches when the most pegs are available to hit, as the potential of Spooky Ball is not nearly as great when there are only a few pegs remaining.
Score Potential Rank: #1

2. Warren (Lucky Spin)
Warren is one of the more difficult characters to play as his ability can be different each time, which requires the player to adapt to the different playstyles each time. What places Lucky Spin this highly on the list is mainly his Triple Score, but also his Magic Hat. The benefit of Triple Score obviously speaks for itself but the reason Magic Hat is also useful is because it significantly increases the size of the hitbox on your ball, which makes it much easier to hit a larger amount of pegs. The downside to playing Lucky Spin of course is that you’re basing your play on luck, and while it can pay off it can also cause you to lose the match.

3. Claude (Flippers)
Claude is the most underrated character in Peggle and actually is extremely potential in terms of score. While his ability is highly conditional based on which level is being played, he can keep the ball onscreen for a huge amount of time, allowing you to hit huge amounts of pegs. It also causes the bucket to move around in a smaller area, which increases the likelihood of scoring a free ball. When Flippers is on the right level is can be even more useful than Spooky Ball, but the downside is that not every level is entirely suited to Flippers ability.

4. Jimmy Lightning (Multiball)
The Multiball is a similar playstyle to the Spooky Ball in that both abilities are very effective at hitting a high amount of pegs. The reason Multiball is inferior to Spooky Ball however is because the Multiball spawns at the same position as the original ball, which means that it will most likely hit a lot of pegs that the original ball will hit anyway, as opposed to the Spooky Ball which will usually come out at the different location from the top to where you first fired. Multiball can have its advantages, but you will almost always want to use Spooky Ball instead.
Score Potential Rank: #4
When To Use It: Start of level
5. Lord Cinderbottom (Fireball)
The Fireball is the best ability for clearing a path, but that’s really all it’s used for. When used correctly at the beginning of a level it can net you a free ball, but other abilites listed above just do it more efficiently than the Fireball does. Because of this it doesn’t quite have that much potential in terms of score.
Score Potential Rank: #5
When To Use It: Start of level
6. Master Hu (Zen Ball)
Zen Ball can be extremely powerful and can often pull off crazy combos, but if you have enough experience with the game you will know how to aim your shots effectively regardless. This character is very good for beginners, but when you become experienced enough you will just find that a lot of the Zen Ball shots were ones you would have been able to make anyway, rendering it useless as an ability.
Score Potential Rank: #6
When To Use It: End of level
7. Kat Tut (Pyramid)
The Pyramid is one of the more unique abilities in the game, as its playstyle is very different to the others. With the Pyramid you will be attempting to score a lot of Lucky Bounces as well as free balls. This can get you quite a few points, and another advantage to the Pyramid is that it lasts 5 turns as opposed to the 3 turns that Flippers and Super Guide have. While Lucky Bounces and free balls can achieve you points, the Pyramid doesn’t actually assist in getting high combos or building the Fevermeter which is why it isn’t as high on the list.
Score Potential Rank: #7
When To Use It: Anytime
8. Splork (Space Blast)
Space Blast has a large radius and can cover a lot of pegs, but it is inferior to the the Fireball is almost every way imaginable. A well aimed Fireball can cover just as many pegs as a Space Blast can, with the added advantage that it isn’t limited to the radius of the placement of the green peg. This downside makes Splork pretty much unusable as a character because the Fireball is almost universally superior.
Score Potential Rank: #8
When To Use It: Start of level
9. Bjorn (Super Guide)
Bjorn is another beginners character like Master Hu, but while Zen Ball can fix a bad aim a Super Guide can’t. The best Super Guide can get you is a Long Shot, but when you are experienced enough you will be able to aim these anyway. This makes Bjorn quite worthless of a character because his ability is almost completely invaluable.
Score Potential Rank: #9
When To Use It: Anytime
10. Tula (Flower Power)
The absolute worst character in the game in terms of both score and level clearance, Tula doesn’t have a single redeeming feature. It’s inferior to the Space Blast which in turn is inferor to the Fireball, so there are already two other characters which are essentially complete upgrades to it. At it’s best it will hit 5-6 red pegs, which you already do at the start of a level anyway, and near the end of the level the best it will do is hit 1 red peg, which again is worthless. Complete and utter trash, never use this character for anything ever.
