Playing with a PS3 Controller using x360ce

Overview

Connecting a PS3 Controller does not work, so here’s a guide on how to play with a PS3 Controller

Downloading the files

Firstly you’ll need to download X360CE. You’ll need both the executable and the libraries:

Libraries 32bit[code.google.com] – 64bit[code.google.com]

Executable: App[code.google.com]

Extracting the files

Firstly, you will need to extract the files from the .zips you downloaded.

For APP: Extract x360ce.exe
For Libraries: Extract xinput1_3.dll, dinput8.dll and x360ce.gbd

Now locate the Hero Siege folder, which is normally “Steam/steamapps/common/HeroSiege/bin”. I am not sure that this tutorial works either for LINUX or MAC, so for now it will be for Windows. Move/Extract the files to that folder and run x360ce.exe.

Setting up x360ce

To set up x360ce, you’ll need to get your controller connected. After the controller is connected, run x360ce.exe and it will ask you to create x360ce.ini, create it and let it search automatically for settings.

WAIT FOR IT TO FINISH SEARCHING, OTHER WISE IT WILL NOT WORK.

After it finished searching, there should be two green “tickings”. Now click finish, if it gives you an error saying “Configuration file version does not match x360ce version.”, open x360ce.ini and add “Version=1”, so it should look like this:

Now you can try and see if the buttons work on the XBOX Controller Preview showed on the screen. If it does, you can now close x360ce.exe.

Testing the controller on the game

X360CE MUST BE CLOSED!

Open the game, when the “PRESS START” screen appears, press the START button. If it works, it should lead you to the menu. The controller does not work with the game mouse (The white hand that appears on the start screen that will be fading out.)
