This guide explains how to set up your Oculus Rift for World of Diving. It also contains a troubleshooting section which should help you with common issues. Always make sure you have the latest Oculus Rift driver installed from the Oculus website.
Setting up Oculus Rift on Windows (Mac + Linux support coming soon)
1. Connect your Oculus Rift to your computer (see the Oculus User Guide).
2. Install the latest Oculus runtime[developer.oculus.com].
3. Open the Oculus Config Utility.
4. Add a ‘User profile’, where you can change settings like your Gender, Height, Eye Relief and Eye Cups.
5. Turn on your Oculus Rift.
6. Reboot your PC.
7. Start World of Diving on Steam by selecting ‘Play in VR’. A game window will show up on
your main display and the game is also visible on the Oculus Rift. Don’t start the game through SteamVR itself, but by clicking Play in your Steam library.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The game starts up in Oculus Rift mode, but the head tracking doesn’t seem to work.
How to make sure your Rift is working properly:
- The light on your headset should be orange. After starting the game, the light on your headset should turn blue.
- The blue light on your camera should turn on after starting the game.
- The demo scene should work as expected. You can try the demo scene by pressing ‘Show Demo Scene’ in your Oculus Rift Config Utility.
Try the following:
- Make sure your Rift is turned on before starting the game.
- Make sure you have created a user profile inside the Oculus Config Util (press the ‘+’ button next to the drop-down menu under ‘User’ and enter your name)
- Restart your computer
- Make sure your Oculus Rift is connected properly (see the Oculus Rift manual) and see if there are no errors while installing the USB drivers.
- Before starting the game, turn off your Oculus Rift. Open your Oculus Config Utility and go to ‘Tools’ -> ‘Advanced’ and press ‘Stop Service’ and then start the Oculus Config Utility again. Wait a short while and turn on your Oculus Rift and try again.
- Un-install the Oculus runtime and both the display and camera drivers. Make sure you have the latest service packs and your system is up-to-date. Re-install the Oculus runtime again.
- Start the game in normal mode, then set the resolution to 1920×1080 at fullscreen. Then exit the game and start in VR mode.
