poacher’s guide to wealth and fame

Overview

An easy way to make some money and improve reputation.

Easy Poaching

Money and reputation can sometimes be hard to come by in Kingdom Come Deliverance. However, there is a fairly easy way to make some cash and reputation.
To do this, you need some kind of weapon, preferrably a stabbing weapon. And you will need a cooking station (most fires will do). A Horse is beneficial, but no requirement.
Just head into the woods and look for game. Specifically deer, if at all possible. The way deer are implemented right now, it should be a rather simple matter to run after them on foot and stab them to death. You can then loot quite some meat, often around 100 units, which are worth roughly 15 groschen each. If you have enough carrying capacity, you can kill multiple animals. Alas, the meat is probably marked as stolen, which makes complete sense, since you just poached it. So head to the cooking station and cook the meat. The ready-to-eat grilled, boiled or whatever meat should no longer be marked as stolen. Be wary of fast-travelling though, as you could encounter a game warden that will search you for stolen meat. Less likely and easier to avoid if you just travel normally. Then head over to a trader that will buy food, and sell the stuff. Specialist traders like smiths and the like will not buy food, but innkeepers will, many traders at the marketplace will, and general-purpose merchants will also. One deer should equal about 400 groschen. If you sell cheaper than normal via haggling, you will even be able to gain reputation.

Some further hints
-> if you do this, do it quickly; meat is highly perishable and rotten meat will get you far less – or no – money
-> if you use a melee weapon, you won’t level it very much this way, but it is easy and convenient; you could also use a bow and rake in quite some xp for marksmanship
-> be wary of traders that lack enough funds; you could perhaps trade something in for parts of the meat
-> you will level up hunting of course, and may be able to take skins as well, but you can’t easily remove the stolen-tag from those
