Psiloi combustor guide for 2.4.0b [W.I.P]

Overview

Recent patch made combustors a quite viable choice, here’s a guide on how to use them in best way (in my opinion). This guide is still Work In Progress, mainly due to fact that I’m still leveling up my character. Things to do in future:-Write which passives aren’t as important as the rest-Write something about construct modules-Write something more clever about how you should spend spare passive points-Improve spelling and remove gramatical errors-Improve build in general-(maybe) post alternate builds for meltagun and autogun combustors

Gear

We want to summon as many combustors as we can, so grab your best available Technomartyr Gridle and Technomartyr Vestment + whatever weapon that has three summoning slots.

Examples of usefull gear attributes:

Psalm Doctrines and Archeotech Shards

Psalm Doctrines are what makes your build viable for -90% dmg dealt difficulties.
Put +125% heat damage psalm on both your main weapon and armour + two Secutor shards in your weapon and two Resistor shards in your armour.

Put +100% construct hp doctrines in both inoculator and main implant. Without that combustors will get almost instakilled on higher difficulties.

Construct setup and why we use lasguns

“Damn robots took our jobs” – some Guardsman probably

Again, due to specific perk and passive that we’ll use you want to have as many Psiloi constructs as you can, so fill up all 5 slots with them.

From my tests on Valorous Heart lasgun combustors tended to obtain highest scores and so we’ll go with them.

But why? Now some people who remember combustor lasguns from previous versions might be confused about this – main hindrance of lasguns used to be their slow firing speed. The thing is, there are now points in passive trees and perks that massively increase cooldown of construct skills (every basic attack that any construck does is a skill with its own cooldown). Meltagun and autoguns don’t benefit from this that mutch due to fact that combustors cast their skills for several seconds with these weapons, but lasgun shot skill is casted and ended almost instantly and so it becomes very spammable.

Perks

There are two main perks that we’ll use:

1. Mechasapient: +1 combustor in each slot means about 50% more dmg that we can put out AND it buffs effect of our next perk

2. Electro-Scourge: +2% attack speed for each construct, with Mechasapient we have 15 constructs which is +30% attack speed (and again, lasguns benefit a lot from it)

I use Noospheric Targeting as third one, mostly because I can’t really come up with anything better for third perk yet so it’s not necessary.

Attribute Points

Here is how I allocated my attribute points. Try to hit all milestones that I put into red circles (you’ll probably need some +bionics/logic/mindlink gear for that, but keep in mind that completing heroic deeds awards you with more attribute points), then dump all spare points either into Logic or Mindlink.

Passives

Somewhere around level 63 you’ll have all the points that you need to fill out every possible buff for your combustors in passive trees. I don’t bother doing damage myself when I play Tech-Adept and so I usually dump spare points into passive trees that give me more survivability:

1. Construct Defense

Combustors are very fragile so we want to dump points into every single passive that increases their defence. Encased Machine Spirit is really important here since combustors are vulnerable to getting knocked down and stunned.

2. Construct Offense

We dump points into every thing that increases lasgun damage or allows combustors to regain some health. Especially usefull here are Life/Shield drain passives and Might of the Legio.

3. Construct Specialization

We grab a bunch of cooldown reduction and data-flux cost reduction so that resummoning combustors isn’t such pain in the ass. We also grab Concentrated Beams and go a bit down to reach Overkill Procedure.

4. Construct Ability

We grab everything that gives us movement speed and cooldown reduction here. Now, the thing is that we REALLY want to reach Relentless Constructs passive here and it requires at least 14 points dumped into that tree- that means that we’ll have to spend few points on random useless passives just to get it.

Pls fix

Step 1: Equip commissar servo-skull as pet
Step 2: Watch it do wacky cigar tricks and stare into random things around
Step 3: Roll out with your glorious bootleg Astra Militarum horde into battle

Step 4: Watch them shoot into metre-tall wall and lag your computer for 30 seconds
