The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Guide

Quest Orders for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Quest Orders

Overview

Many quests seem to conflict with eachother if done in the wrong order. To prevent bugs, you should do certain quests before others. This guide will describe the recommended order of quests. There shouldn’t be any spoilers in this guide.

The Order

Here is the order, top being the first, bottom being the last.

  • Sanguine
The Countess of Leyawiin is vulnerable to death after a quest in the Thieves Guild. She must be present or else the quest is failed.
  • Thieves Guild
  • Sins of the Father
After Sins of the Father, a certain someone involved in the Thieves Guild may refuse to talk to you, depending on what choice you make. Your best bet is to do this after the Thieves Guild questline.
  • Mages Guild
Someone involved in a Thieves Guild quest is a member of the Mages Guild, making it difficult to do the Thieves Guild quest without getting expelled from the Mages Guild after joining. Don’t even join the Mages Guild without doing the Thieves Guild questline first.
  • The Siren’s Deception
  • Dagon Shrine
Having hostile NPCs in cities that can attack civilians is never a good thing. Hold off on this quest if you can, but it’s not the end of the world if you already did it so long as you kill the agents without civilian casualty.

It doesn’t matter what quests you do before, after, or in-between this list. Just make sure that if you plan on doing these quests you do them in this order.

Please tell me if there’s any other conflicting questlines that I should know of.
