Story Overview
The fate of Athens is in your hands as you step into the role of legendary Greek hero Theseus. Offering yourself for tribute unto the corrupt King Minos, you embark upon a perilous quest deep beneath the city of Knossos to slay the twisted mythical beast – The Minotaur. But, before you can complete this hero’s journey you must steadfast the trials of ever-changing legendary creature-filled labyrinths where you will come up against the likes of the Centaur, Hydra, Satyr and Cerberus. Collect gold to deal with Daedalus, building up your armory whilst seeking out the mythological medallions that unlock a master sword, the only weapon known that can pierce the Minotaur’s cursed flesh. May the gods of Greece be with you, son of Poseidon!

Keyboard
- W – Move Forward
- A – Move Left

Gameplay Overview
- TORCH – Press F Button to toggle it lit/unlit
- HEALTH – Your health diminishes each time you are attacked or are hurt by environmental traps slowly turning your screen Black & White. When your health is gone, you are dead, and must restart. Eat Meat and Bread, drink special Potions or gain the power of healing from the gods to regain health.
- NOISE – Be aware of how much noise you make as the creatures can hear you and if they hear you they will find you.
- HIDDEN – When you are in complete darkness you cannot be seen by most creatures. An Icon will appear at the top of the screen to let you know when you are hidden.
- BURNING – Beware the flame! The furniture is not the only thing that can catch fire deep below Knossos. Wooden weapons and your flesh are susceptible to fire as well.
- POTION (???) – The first time you grab a potion it will appear in the HUD, marked as “???”. You must use it to discover what you have found… Pres the “V” Button to drink a potion.
- WEAPON SLOT 1&2 (I, II) – Switch between up to two weapons when equipped. Press the Q Button to switch between the two slots (or mouse wheel). If no weapon is equipped it will say “Empty”
- KEY – You must find the key before you can advance to the next depth of the labyrinth. Look for ladders that lead to lower rooms, flammable boxes on pedestals, or sometimes in the clutches of the beasts you avoid. Once acquired the key will appear in your HUD in the lower right corner.
Once you are tossed into the pit by King Minos’ guards you will appear in the Main Chamber, or “HUB”, of the game. From here you can travel to Daedalus’ Shop to view Legendary Creature and Story Books you have collected and to buy and equip new Weapons (weapons purchased will appear on the wall beside the shop to equip at any time), enter any of the Creature based Labyrinths or try your hand at exploring “The Unknown” (must collect at least one creature medallion to gain access to the Unknown Depths).
***Be sure to grab the Torch and Gold you see right outside of the pool and read all the notes before entering any levels.
As you play you will find and collect GOLD which you then use to buy items at the Shop as well as BOOKS which provide you with knowledge. Gain enough knowledge and you can prove your worth at special statues to gain favor from the gods.
Each level is a randomly generated labyrinth, but in each one you must find the KEY and then the EXIT to make it down to the next level lower until you come to the ARENA where you must collect the special MEDALLION and kill the legendary creature. Levels are filled with enemies and traps that you must learn to deal with. Learn when to run, when to hide and when to fight. Collect all the medallions to unlock the MASTER SWORD which is the only weapon that can kill the MINOTAUR.
***If you exit a level at any time (Return to Main Chamber or Save & Quit), when you return you must start back at the beginning of the series of levels. It does not save how far you have advanced inside a creature’s labyrinth.
Gameplay TIPS
- At the very beginning of the game be sure to grab the torch and follow the gold coins to Daedalus’ Shop to purchase your first weapon, the Club, before entering any of the legendary creature lairs.
- Take the time to explore the main chaimber to find special books that will tell the tale of King Minos and his son the Minotaur.
- Light the torch stands you find throughout the labyrinths to not only better see your surroundings but to also help mark where you have been.
- Read all the notes and creature books you find. They reveal important gameplay information that you will be able to use to your advantage. For instance, if you feel lost in the main chamber, just look up and follow the beam of light to the next legendary creature’s lair.
- Use the exploding red barrels to your favor. If you have a swarm of enemies on your tail, draw them close to the red barrel, strike it to ignite it, then time your retreat so that you are out of the blast radius but your adversaries are caught in the blast.
- Experiment with all the various god powers available to find the ones that best aid you in your particular play style.
