Overview

A quick little guide on how to start in “The Forest” Alpha 0.19c. Mostly about the gameplay basics. Includes Video Guide!

1. Basics

As you wake up at the plane crash, just search through the area and grab anything you can, including meds, food and drink, weapons, wood and wood sticks and stones, as much as you can carry.

The best thing you can do first is to – Fill up your Inventory as much as you can!

Now you’ll have to decide wether you stay at the plane crash site or either go out, explore a bit and set up a camp anywhere else.

That leads us to the next section – “Set up your first base”

2. Base

You can set up a base at the plane, which has the advantage that you already have the plane as barricade to one side of your camp. Disadvantage could be that the crash site is not always the best place to set up a camp, because it lacks of resources. Depends of course where the crash site is on your server. Sometimes it’s almost perfect.

Setting up a camp around the map is of course more risky but you have the advantage of choosing one of the best places possible for a base. There are a lot of good places for a camp around the map, which have everything you’ll need. Resources (Wood & Stone), Water and Protection from everything which lurks for you in “The Forest”. 😀

First thing before you go out and explore, kill mutants or whatever you wanna do, is to ensure that you have the following things in your base:

– Fire
– a Shelter (Sleep & Save!)
– Eat & Drink (Farming, Hunting etc…)

Also a few storages are a good idea to hold more things as you can carry in your inventory.

The “dying rack” is a very good tool to maintain your need for food!
