Razbam metroliner install instructions!!

Overview

This is a tutorial for installing the Razbam Metroliner into FSX Steam edition for anyone who is having problems with the load manager or the PWR Fail light in the cockpit/ no external lights are shown.

Install

So you have purchased you Razbam Metroliner, and boot up FSX_SE to see it fly, when suddenly you realise most of the features are non-funtional (bugger). This tutorial will explain why this is caused and how you can fix it.

When you download the installer from you relavant site (Justflight, Aerosoft), navigate to you downloads folder and find the installer. Click no the installer and run throught the prompts, BUT when it gives you the option to install to a folder ,install it to a sepperate location, not into any FSX_SE files/directory, as this will also make sure the aircraft is installed correctly.

This is the window mentioned above. It would probably be best to just install the aircraft into the first drive folder (eg E/drive or C/drive) so you can find it easyer.

Once you have installed the aircraft find the files where the aircraft installed (it should be called Microsoft Flight Simulator X, as it would normally install into the box version.) Navigate throught this file to Untill you see the files shown in the image above. Now move onto the next part of this tutorial!

Basic file install

This section will tell you how to install the basic files found in the aircraft folder.

This step is rather obvious, all you have to do is transfer the files (from the aircraft install) into the root FSX_SE folders of the same name. For instance the effects folder for the aircraft install needs to be combined with the FSX_SE effects folder. All you have to do is drag and drop the folder, click merge, and then if nessacary overite any conflicts that occur. You may have to rename the installer folder with lowercase first letters for this to work!

You need to do the same for all the files in these folders’s (aside from the Addon Modules folder)so the aircraft will go in the simobjects folder, effects in effects, fonts in fonts. The Addon Moduals folder can be dragged in as it is (dont take the file out of it sepperatly, and try to add that).

Once you have placed the files form the aircraft install into the FSX_SE root files you can move onto the next step.

The hard part, DLL files

Luckily for you this is now not longer a problem, due to a renaming on the fsx .cfg folder from FSX_SE to simply FSX! So the dll files are now added automatically, please check the next step however, as most people struggle at that point!

Addon modules folder

One of the problems that mopst people seem to have now is to do with the Addon modules folder (seen far left on the screenshot above), in this folder there is a file that controls the aircraft load manager and light system. To use this folder simply install the aircraft to your desktop, and drag and drop the folder into you fsx root directory, leave it there! Run FSX_se and you should get a prompt to run the file, click run, and if asked make it trusted, and hey presto it should work!
