This is the OFFICIAL GUIDE to multiplayer for Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. You can: set up servers, play with other people, use cheats, and much more! Let’s get started.
What is Open RCT2?
You may be wondering: how exactly does this work? Well, I’m here to show you.
OpenRCT2 is a free software available to download. The company is based in the Netherlands, and this multiplayer mod is in active development. Here is an excerpt from this site:
“OpenRCT2 recreates RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 into opensource code. This allows us to add new features, fix original bugs and raise game limits. There’s even multiplayer co-op!
Development started on April 2nd 2014 by Ted ‘IntelOrca’ John. Thanks to numerous contributions from others the OpenRCT2 project is making great progress and already has new features.
An installation of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is required in order to play. Alternatively, there are also ways to play OpenRCT2 free of charge.”

You can download this open source software at [link] . Make sure to get the developer build, as that is the latest version, and you can only join updated servers with the latest version.
Set-Up
What will happen next is to run the software. When it first starts up, don’t be surprised that it cannot locate your game folder. What you must do is navigate to it. (C:->Program Files->Steam->SteamApps->common->Rollercoaster Tycoon 2).
Once you get there, select that folder and hit enter. Now, when you start up OpenRCT2 you can either make a new world, learn, or join a server. Keep in mind that this version has fixed bugs and it also includes cheats.
Server Setup
In order to setup a server, you must port forward. The port for this software is 11753.
In case you aren’t aware of how to do it, you must port forward in both your router and modem, and you also have to find your internal ip for your machine.
