Overview
Sentry Knight Tactics! A surprisngly fresh and utterly kick-ass game that demands you learn to be nimble in micromanaging your characters during battle. I encourage you all to have patience, the whole POINT of the game is that it is challenging to do so, and you absolutely MUST stay on top of incoming enemies or will die lol. So, with that in mind, can the controls feel a bit cumbersome at first? Absolutely. In the early stages, you will likely not be used to positionining your characters and have trouble when they or the enemies get too bunched up. You also need to make sure you have a good mouse pad. Here are the few changes I recommend to get the most out of yourt party and make fine-tuning your heroes positionining and actions a breeze.
1. One simple change to the control scheme
1. Switch ‘command all’ from ‘SHIFT to ‘SPACEBAR’.
I stuck using the original ‘mouse drag’ control scheme. But the changes below would also work with the ‘click and right click’ controls scheme that Justin et al. added recently.
I switched the ‘command all’ button from SHIFT to SPACEBAR and it made a huge difference. I no longer hit the ~/` key that brings up some sort of overlay, and it enables my left hand to maintain contact with tab, buttons 1/2/3 and just slight tap over the 4 and space all at the same time. Fits the contour of the hand perfectly as well. Good to use spacebar esp since you’re using the command all hotkey so frequently.

I found using spacebar 100x easier than using shift. Use command all often and liberally.
2. Get used to the mouse – wean off Hero Cycle and F1-F4 hotkeys
2. Wean yourself off using ‘Hero Cycle’ or character hotkeys – use the mouse to click on heroes then numbers to use their abilities.
The second thing is that instead of using tab to switch through my characters abilities, as that really took my eyes off the action in the battle, and as a result, death ensued. Similarly, using the F1-F4 character hotkeys, while I’m glad Justin added both that and put Hero Cycle back in (my preference is not everyone’s, always better to have more ways to skin a cat than 1), when you use them it takes your fingers off the home keys.
Using the above control scheme I never had to lift my fingers from the home formation and using the mouse to select targets and click between heroes became a lot easier. Once again, I am using the original mouse drag control scheme, and using the above setup I have virtually eliminated any cumbersomeness with controls. I click on individual characters and then press numbers 1/2/3/4 to use their skills, while using the mouse to drag reposition and drag SPACEBAR ‘command all’ one of the characters, usually the knight but doesn’t matter, into choosing my main target. This enables me to use the ranged characters to pick off targets sperarately NOT using command all if I so choose.
Message me if you have any questions, it took some fiddling but I feel like I have total control over my party now without it being cumbersome at all. Spacebar is the key!
I speak French and Spanish so message me directly if you need that advice, I’m too lazy to type it in right now. Let me know if you have any suggestions to add or ways I can improve this guide.
