Recompiling a map for sfm the easy way

Overview

I will be teaching you my way of compiling a map for sfm the simplest way I know.

Things you will need

bspsource for extraction: [link]
any hammer editor
your map in my case final corridor by saint blue.

Bspsource/extracting and converting.

you first will open the bsp source and run the java file for it,

then choose your map

if yours looks like the picture you got it now go to the last tab and click anything that is red so it looks like the image.

now hit the big bold decompile.

save it any where you can find it. and click save then wait until it is done.

Preparing for Hammer

now that we have everything, it is time to get ready for hammer. simply put the materials/models/ect. in the usermod folder FOR NOW. we will be taking the out later. now open hammer and. . .

Ta da you are in hammer now, BE CAREFUL OF EVERYTHING YOU DO!

Compiling map/editing colors

now that we are in hammer click file then click open. if done correctly you should get this

find your map and click open. now we wait for the map to load. once it does it should look like this

to see what it looks like without lighting we need to change the view to 3d textured polygons. this is why we dragged all the materials/models/ect. in to usermod.

You probably noticed these little guys here

you will want to delete them as they don’t do much in sfm they are mostly for gmod and other games to show were characters should be when <event> happens.

Compiling map/edit colors 2

now for changing the color. you can do this one of 2 ways

1: change all lights, spotlights colors by clicking on light and pressing alt-enter, this takes you to its properties which are changeable find the color that looks like the one it is using and just change it to the color you want

2: change every single texture

I recommend number one first because it is simpler.

just make sure to know what light goes to what place.

Exporting map

so your finished eh? well make sure all triggers/areaportals and things like that are gone the only one you need is block light. now click file/run map. you should be greated with this

don’t freak out this is easy simple click the HDR box and set VIS to fast, then click expert.
change it to full compile and uncheck the last one, go and click back to normal check don’t run game
after compiling and wait for key press when done compiling and hit ok.

YOU DID IT!

congrats you compiled a map to sfm the simple way and you can acutally use it just take the files extreacted that you had in usermod and put the somewhere else but keep the console files and models in the material section otherwise your in a world of pain this means take all files but console and models in the materials folder , put them in thier place and go back to the models folder click it and take everything out of it. you are done grab your map name it anything and you’re done. if following my guide you should get something ruffly like this.

and you are done.
