Overview
This guide is intended for RecRoom Paintball Players of all skill levels and experience. In this guide we cover grenade basics and tactical use for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
RecRoom Paintball – Grenade Tactics
A RecRoom Paintball Grenade can be a power tool in the hands of a skilled player. The adverse is true for a player unfamiliar with this pivotal weapon. This guide is intended to help players from beginner to advanced skill levels.
Grenades are only harmful to the opposing team players when detonated. There are three methods for detonating a grenade. Method One: A player can grab and then drop or throw a grenade. The grenade will activate with red or blue paint respective to the player. Once armed, a grenade will fizzle briefly before detonation – about 4 seconds. Method Two: Any player can shoot and hit a grenade detonating it instantly. It will explode either red or blue paint respective to the shooter. Method Three: A grenade within the blast radius of an exploding grenade will also detonate the same paint color in a chain reaction.
Grenades will be a threat to you at first – proceed with caution. Small cashes of 2-3 grenades can be found on each map. Familiarize yourself with each location and avoid taking cover within a potential blast radius. Get a feel for throwing – I suggest an underhanded method. The more accurate you are, the more difficult for a target to escape the explosion. Listen for the grenade’s distinct fizzle sound so you can avoid them defensively.
There are many clever ways to use or defend against a grenade. Players can carry them into battle as a sort of “Dead Man’s Switch”. Otherwise, use one to lure an overzealous attacker to an explosive demise. The blast can penetrate shields and other close cover; like train cars, tire piles, mesh fencing and haystacks. In addition, grenades make a great tool for flushing out any opponent hiding inside scenery, rocks or walls. Practice high arching throws and your target will have little warning.
At this level, skilled opponents can mitigate most grenade threats. Practice detonating your grenades just above the ground. Master accurate mid-air detonation and even the most advanced sniper becomes an easy target.
Grenades have capabilities unlike all other weapons in RecRoom Paintball – including “magical” powers. Half the fun is finding these little secrets of the game – so I won’t spoil it. Just remember that timing is everything – now go have a blast!
