How much experience for each level?

To hit level 12 on a single character we need 58 770 thousand experience, so for 10 characters we need 587 770 thousand. Quite a lot, although it may not seem like much at first. What it looks like at each level:

Level
Experience
1
315
2
450
3
630
4
1 800
5
2 925
6
4 050
7
6 300
8
7 200
9
8 100
10
9 000
11
9 000
12
9 000

Up to level 6 everything looks even interesting, but then the real grind begins.

What doesn't give us experience?

We do not get extra experience for:
  • Picking a random character (so pick 10 characters you want to grind)
  • Killing enemies, mobs - in Awesomenauts we get exp for playing, only time spent in the game counts
  • Playing Tutorial, Practice Mode and Custom Game
  • Losing the game against bots
  • Playing on splitscreen
  • Playing in a party
  • Playing with a skin

How much experience do we get for playing vs bots?

As I mentioned earlier, you only get experience in Awesomenauts for the time you spend in a match.

In addition, every 22 hours we get a bonus for the first win of the day!

If we play a match shorter than about 4 minutes then we do not get experience for the length of the match, only for winning. Any match over 4 minutes is 140 experience for winning and additional experience for the length of the match.

I wrote down about 30 matches and the experience I garnered for them. First, matches that lasted less than 4 minutes:

Match length
Experience
3:18
114
3:26
120

As you can see you get less than 140 experience for them. Now matches lasting from 4 minutes to 60 minutes. I chose a couple to show more or less how it looks like:

Match length
Experience
5:02
171
10:34
337
18:01
560
26:35
818
35:02
1071
42:42
1302
58:56
1792

In the screenshot below, proof of playing such a long game.
To bring about such a long game you simply have to keep our towers and the enemy alive, or let the enemies destroy our towers and then defend the base for a long time.

Generally, the longer we play, the less experience we get. However, then we don't waste time waiting in the queue, which can be as long as 2 minutes.

On the other hand, if you decide to roll the game for more than 60 minutes, don't do it! After 60 minutes, the experience scales to such low values that I only got 1,820 experience after playing for 95 minutes. Probably after 60 minutes one gets 1 experience point per minute.

I don't have a screenshot of the experience, but I do with the length of the game

Experience for playing against players

During the whole period of grinding, I haven't played a single match against players, so I can't say how the experience is here.

The problem here is the long waiting time for the match (around 6-12 minutes) and the possibility of losing the match = less experience. If anyone knows how much experience you get for winning and losing a match in PvP mode, let me know in the comments.

Experience for Brawl mode (the only grind help)

Due to the fact that there are no events in the game for more experience, we are not able to speed up our grinding in any way.

However, from Thursday to Sunday there is a Brawl mode. For the first three games we play in this mode, we get 4 times more experience. For example, for a 10-minute game we normally get about 330 experience, and for the same game in Brawl mode we get 1320 experience.

We can get even more experience if we play Brawl, win it (and it will be our first win of the day - 300 experience bonus) and of course we will try to extend it.

The table as before:

Match length
Experience
16:30 (Lose)
1156
28:37 (Win)
2412
46:02 (Win)
3460

An example of a won match in Brawl mode:

After 3 games in Brawl mode, we get less experience than for playing against bots, so it's worth using this event to get some more experience.

Personally, I recommend playing one match on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to get additional experience for the first win of the day.

Unfortunately, the player base of this game is very small, which makes finding a match in this mode complicated. A second account and a second computer can come in handy. We launch Brawl mode on both accounts, wait about 15 minutes (the length of waiting in the queue for Brawl mode) and play on our main account, and wait for the game to kick us out on the other account.

Which characters are best for grinding?

There is no rule which characters are better and which are worse. It all depends on your preferences.
n general, which character you play doesn't matter in terms of experience.

As for the characters I used, I would divide them into two categories. Those that were easy to carry games against bots and those that were a little harder.

Easy-to-carry characters: Raelynn, Voltar, Gnaw, Clunk, Coco, Sheriff Lonestar, Leon Chameleon

Characters a little harder to carry: Froggy G, Genji, Yuri

If someone wants to, they can suggest themselves and choose these 7 characters at the top, and exchange the one below for something else.

How long will it take us to get 10 characters to level 12 then?

Assuming we're only playing the bot mode and getting around 1,700 experience per hour, we should get 587,700 experience in 345 hours.

Unfortunately, the grind in this game is quite large and if you want to get all the achievements, you will have to spend some time.

If we also play Brawl every week, we can shorten this time, but it's our only option.

As I mentioned, there are no events in the game that would give you several times more experience, only Brawl.

Playing only Brawl every week will take us about 195 hours spread over 65 weeks (over a year)

Playing with another player against bots.

If we choose the mode against bots and get a player on the team, we have three options:

1. Play a normal match.

2. Stand Afk. After about 2.30 we will get a kick, but we can still get back to the game. We can do this over and over again, but there's a chance a player will report us and get us banned (tested by me lmao).

3. Exit the lobby. I've done this very rarely, but I know it results in a 5 minute ban.

When grinding, it's better to play only with bots, but if we get a player, it's better to just finish the match as soon as possible and look for another one.

Summary

If someone wants to do 100% of the achievements in this game, I personally do not recommend it. It is very tedious and quite boring.

The whole grind is about 400 hours.
