Overview
Hello, and welcome to the Robocraft community! This is a game where you build a robot, and fight it against other robots. This is a guide on some techniques to get you going, or just how to get some RP.
Overview
Overview
You probably already know what Robocraft is, but incase you don’t read this section. Robocraft is a game in which you create robots and battle them against other robots in battle. You use a variety of armour, weapons, and transportation. You can also go into other modes, such as challenge, a full team of low teired robots, versus four high teired robots. You must upgrade your robot, unlock new items, and buy new items to put on your bot using RP, or Robopoints.
This guide will help you find some of the best strategys for a good robot, some techniques for battles, and overall how to at least get some experience.
Weapons
Weapons
There are many kinds of robots you can build, and this section will help you choose the weapon for your robot.
First you want to decide what kind of weapon you want to use – SMGs, Plasma Launchers, Rail Cannons, Nano-Disruptors, or Tesla Blades. I’ll list some of the ups and downs of each one.
SMGs – An SMG is a great starting point, but most people switch out for some better weapons somewhere along the line. They are the first guns you will get, and are very powerfull in later teirs. They don’t have the best scope, actually the second worst, not including Tesla Blades, but they’re rapid fire can make up for that.
Plasma Launchers – Plasma Launchers are the second kind of weapon you will accumulate in the game. Most people use these from teirs 2-5, then it becomes quite rare later on, due to their lack of scope, and not the greatest damage. The scope is better than the SMGs, but still hard to fight long ranged. Most people like them because of their quick reload time, and the splash damage, however they aren’t very powerful unless you make a direct hit.
Rail Cannons – Later on you will probably want to try out a sniper-like weapon, such as the rail cannons. These get more popular the higher tiered you get, and most people come to a liking for these powerfull weapons. As said before, they are equivalent to real life sniper guns, having the best scope and packing a powerful punch. However, if you do use these, you may want to find somewhere such as behind a rock, due to their long reload time.
Nano-Disruptors – Nanos are the medics of every team. You will probably encounter them somewhere around T4, but are unlocked later on. They don’t have a scope, and are the shortest ranged, but every team needs a nurse.
Tesla-Blades – These weapon accesories are the only melee items to this day. I haven’t had to much experience with them, but basically you add them onto your bot, with your other weapon of choice, and ram into enemies to do a load of damage.
Transportation
Transportation
Your next step is to choose how to get around, sadly you can’t take the bus, but there are many other types of ways to get around. So far there is wheels, tracks, thrusters, armoured helium tanks, hover blades, aerofoils / rudders, helicopter blades, walker legs, and skis.
Wheels – Wheels are the first mode of transportation you will get. They are high in speed, yet tend to flip easily in low versions.
Tracks – Tracks / Treads are common in teirs 3 – 6 but seem to die off later on. They are great at climbing steep cliffs, and don’t fall over easily, but are normally slow, which can make for a bad getaway van.
Hover blades – The very first way to get airborne in Robocraft. They are tricky to get balanced, and can’t go very fast, but are good at climbing, and staying low, but off the ground. Just don’t try going off any cliffs…
Thrusters – Thrusters are exactly what you think they are. They push and can get you speed, lift, and so much more. These are mostly seen on fliers, to get speed or fly higher, but are sometimes seen on ground bots, for speed.
Armoured Helium Tanks – These helium tanks make your robot the best human balloon you can imagine. They take flight almost instantly (if your bot is light enough) and can take you to great heights. They aren’t good unless you have another form of transportation, unless your putting them on a bot to make it lighter.
Aerofoils / Rudders – Aerofoils and rudders are like plane wings. They shift up, down, right, and left to let you go every which way. The lowest you can get them in is teir 4, which is a good thing because you will want some knowledge before flight school.
Helicopter Blades – Helicopter Blades (or Rotors) are mostly used in late teirs. They let you lift off the ground and are the best option for stopping in mid-flight.
Walker legs – One of the latest modes of transportation you will get is the walker legs. They can walk on walls, upside down, and they can even jump and crouch. These are the best option (in my opinion) for ground transportation.
Skis – Skis are very tricky. There are two types, the normal steering skis, and skis that only go forward. I personally don’t recommend them but give them a shot, and unlock your inner Santa.
Chassis
Chassis
The final thing you will want to keep in mind before building your robot is chassis. These are the core blocks of your robot. The armour. Every block plays a big part, so you want to choose the highest teired block for your outer shell. You will also want to keep the inner shell strong too, not hollow, but not insanely strong. You need the outer blocks to be very strong because that’s the layer all of your main parts will be on (guns, wheels, etc.) The inner shell is all about after the outside gets blown to peices. It will be later in the round when that happens (hopefully) so you can make it slightly weaker. You also want to keep in mind balancing. Everything should be symetrical, or you will flip over, and pay the ultimate price! (Play dramatic music)
Electroplates should be essential, too. They are regenarative armour that should be the crust. All on the outside. They come in different shapes and sizes, so you may have different ways to put them on, for example,
Combinations
Combinations
There are many combinations that go good together, such as a rail tank. This is a list of which guns go good with which transportation style. Cruisers have normal wheels, tanks have, well, tracks, copters are helicopter blades, bombers are using aerofoils, hover has hover blades, walkers have legs, sleds have skis, heliums have armoured helium tanks, and thruster-powered has just thrusters.
SMGs – SMG Cruiser, SMG Tanks, and SMG Hovers.
Plasma Launchers – Plasma Tanks, Plasma Copters, Plasma Bombers, and Plasma Skis.
Rail Cannons – Rail Cruisers, Rail Heliums, Rail Copters, Rail Walkers, Rail Tanks, and Rail Bombers
Nano-Disruptors – Medic Cruisers, Medic Hovers, Medic Walkers, Medic Fliers, and Medic Sleds.
Tesla Blades – Tesla Hovers, Tesla Cruisers, and Tesla Sleds.
Strategy
Strategy
There are many ways to go around and dominate in Robocraft. This section will give you a good idea on the best ways for every weapon, ground and fliers.
Ground SMGs – Try to get close to your enemy without being seen. Such as on top of a hill, where it would be hard to hit you, but you have a clear shot.
Flying SMGs – Flying SMGs should keep moving. Never stop moving. Keep very close to your target, but don’t get shot at. Aim for Teslas, Medics, and Ground SMGs
Ground Plasmas – Ground Plasmas are the exact oppsite of the SMGs. Stay away from your enemy. Plasmas have splash damage, so use that to your advantage. Rail Cannons are your worst enemy. Target them first.
Flying Plasmas – Flying Plasmas should keep moving. The only time you should stop is when your about to shoot, and you can only do that with copters. Stay near spawn and around a medic.
Ground Rails – Ground Rails need cover. Stay behind something, and peak out when you need to attack. SMGs are probably your worst enemy because they have rapid fire, and you have limited shots. Aim for SMGs and Fliers.
Flying Rails – I don’t recommend rail fiers, but for those who want to try them, find a good hiding spot. If your being shot at, immediatly go back to base and find a medic.
Teslas – No matter flying nor ground, teslas should always wait until the moment their enemy comes close. Wait till’ your oppenent rounds a corner, then suprise him with a robotload of tesla.
Ground Medics – Ground Medics should never go off alone. Stick with a group of 2 – 5 people and heal ANYONE. Heal the person at lowest health first, and then second lowest, and so on and so forth. Use right click instead of left click to heal, it automatically targets.
Flying Medics – Flying Medics should stay low to the ground, because you will have no way to fight back if being shot at. Swoop down on team members and heal what you can then fly to safety.
Overall plan – There should be one plan for everyone: eliminate first and then capture. First aim for the medics; for they will reduce progress. Once most medics are dead, aim for rails and plasmas. You should stay at base until rails and plasmas are down, then run around finding and destroying every SMG. Once there are few SMGs left, start capturing with all your other team members. TEAMWORK IS IMPORTANT! Stay in a group of 2 – 5 people, and if it doesn’t have a medic, don’t be in that group.
